That may be, but it doesn’t account for your characteristic foreigner-type mistakes in the language. Any more than somebody’s having chronic asthma would account for their walking with a limp.
Patterns of linguistic errors are very distinctive and very indicative of particular sources. Native US-English speakers with learning/cognitive disabilities do make grammatical and syntactical errors, but not the same sort as yours.
You are either a Russian troll poorly impersonating an American internet user, or some variety of hobby troll deliberately cultivating a foreign-sounding broken English style with stereotypical “Russianisms” in order to impersonate a Russian troll. Or perhaps some combination of the above: you might be a whole matryoshka doll of trollish deception, for all I know. But what you are definitely not is a native US-English speaker sincerely attempting to have a thoughtful discussion about gun violence.
Hello Not a Platypus. I am Not a Carlson.
As an Australian, I feel uniquely qualified to offer my two brass razoos.
When Comrade Doofus wrote the following:
…my first thought was pretty much the same as Derleth: “You want to talk about countries with a lot of wilderness, boyo? Try Australia!”
So, given the rather silly argument that the OP was making in that post (ie, the USA is just too darned big and open to implement gun contol!) -referenced and countered by Guinastasia, then followed by Derleth, it seems clear that Derleth’s response was entirely on point. I’m sure you can appreciate that upon reflection.
Sure you say that now, but once you open the door and see all the monkeys furiously pounding away at their keyboards to create what we affectionately know as L-7, won’t you be embarrassed at how far off you were?
I think the boiler room he works out of has a collection of extended passages of competent writing, from which he and his coworkers can draw when they sense that the audience is catching on.
It’s probably monitored for activity, though, so he’s got to be careful about going to the well too frequently.
I was assured I . . . err, they had to keep the monkeys drunk for this to work.
(I mean, all the money I . . . err, they put out each month on booze could have bought me . . . them a lot more monkeys!)
If the US lapses into tyranny, most of the people will support it.
There aren’t any dictatorships where the guy on top is opposed by everyone underneath. That may happen in the movies but it doesn’t happen in real life. The Communists were largely supported in the Soviet Union. The Nazis had broad support in Germany. The Fascists had lots of support in Italy. Today’s emerging dictatorships all enjoy wide support. Erdogan? Putin? Popular as hell.
Your idea that all American gun owners would rise up and oppose a dictatorship is absurd. It’s a preposterous fantasy that ignores the entirety of human history, as ludicrous as thinking the dictatorship would be overthrown by space aliens.
“These are the new talking points. These are the *Glengarry *talking points. And to you, they’re gold, and you don’t get them. Why? Because to give them to you is just throwing them away. They’re for closers. I’d wish you good luck, but you wouldn’t know what to do with it if you got it.”
Oh sure. Like I said, I did assume correctly what his point was. I genuinely wasn’t trying to be a dick, but it’s hard to take any debate involving **Luciano **seriously when even he can’t be bothered to respond to most posts. If we were in GD and a good faith effort was being made all around to debate a serious topic, I wouldn’t have said a word.
Thank you, that’s entirely my point, with an extra helping of relevance in that Oz did indeed give up the gun after the Port Arthur Massacre, so, yes, it is possible for a Western country to revisit gun control laws after a tragedy, as opposed to the gunners whining that it’s “too soon” or that politicians are using the survivors to do politics, or that politics itself is a dirty word.
Especially since the kinds of people who own the most guns are precisely the kinds of people who’d institute a dictatorship once it became clear that they couldn’t gerrymander their way into owning the place: Conservative White Evangelicals morally opposed to gays, trans people, brown people, and any religion other than Moral Majority Deficit Hawk.
In other words, the kinds of people who are at the wrong end of the demographic and cultural shift, who can no longer simply assume their ideas will be taken seriously, and, because they couldn’t form a cogent argument in favor of those ideas if you held a gun to their heads, are at increased risk of holding a gun to everyone else’s.
