They drafted a center, which they needed.
And as far as I know, Steinbach will be the starter. Not sure where you heard he lost his job. They haven’t even gone through training camp yet.
Oh God forbid someone post an interest in this story that has nothing to do with the guy dying. Everyone in this thread more or less has expressed remorse for what happened, why can’t a couple football fans speculate on the impact to their team now that Stallworth is suspended indefinetely? Because it dishonors the dead? Moreso than the family of the victim that grabbed for the money pinata as quickly as possible?
Shit. I thought you guys gave away your first-rounder this year. My bad, I forgot about Mack.
No matter though. We’ll see which Ohio team lands on top this season. And if you objectively look at rosters from top to bottom, it won’t be yours!
Too bad they don’t simulate the games on an Xbox.
I’m curious what you would think the punishment should be if he were to kill a loved one of yours?
I have to say that this is pretty funny.
"Even though he was very drunk, and carrying the gun with the radium in his pocket with the hole in it, and oozing pus, and coughing his maliarial sputum over everybody, the accident wasn’t his fault. The victims shouldn’t have been sleeping in the house with just a Schlage lock and a deadbolt on the door. "
What exactly are you blabbering about?
Well, 10 minutes earlier, he was blabbering about beating his optometrist to death. Don’t know if that had any bearing…
There are many good reasons why a crime victim’s loved ones don’t get to choose the sentence.
My laymans legal understanding was if you were definitely drunk at the time of the accident in which you killed someone with your vehicle, it really didnt matter if it wasnt your fault or not. The theory being, if you werent drunk, barrring (maybe)** extreme **circumstances, you could have lessened the probability of it happening, you shouldnt have been drinking and driving in the first place, and that the law assumes you did wrong action wise because you were drinking.
Guess I was wrong about that.
I don’t know what he means either. But I wasn’t excusing Stallworth from driving drunk, which is a jackass thing to do. I was saying he might have gotten away with such a light sentence because (aside from first and foremost having money for a good lawyer, and having cooperated and not fled the scene) the prosecutors might’ve felt it would be hard to prove the accident was completely Stallworth’s fault even though he was very drunk.
You win the thread.
SB, I was just messing with you. I thought that would be clear since I answered your cap-recovery query in the same post.
(Forgot to address this before)
Steinbach isn’t going to be a backup. During an OTA they jumbled up the line, Mangini wanted to see who could play what position. This somehow turned into reports of “Steinbach fighting for his job” and eventually to “Mangini doesn’t like Steinbach, he’ll be the backup”.
His contract his under 50m, not 70 - backloaded as they all are. Overpaid, but lesser guards got the same or more - guard contracts have gone nuts since the Hutchinson deal.
And the water in Cleveland is actually pretty good - a combination of a reduction in pollution and the invasion of Zebra mussels. The water is way, way cleaner than it was when I was a kid.
It could hardly have been any worse- didn’t the Cuyohoga River once catch fire?
More than once, apparently.
From wikipedia:
It improved a lot in recent years, though - if you swam in Lake Erie in the late 80s you wouldn’t be able to see your hand a few inches underwater, but nowadays you can usually see your feet.
I was just busting your and MOIDALIZE’s balls. I did read something akin to what you mentioned, some “Mangini doesn’t like Steinbach” story. Something to the effect that Eric wasn’t big enough like Mangini likes his linemen to be, or something.
I agree about the guard contracts, too. They are getting tackle money. Shit, centers are suddenly commanding a premium as well.
