Stallworth pleads guilty to DUI manslaughter, 30-day jail sentence

Stallworth pleads guilty to DUI manslaughter in Fla., gets 30-day jail sentence

Seems kinda light. Anyone know how something like this came about? I don’t know the whole story. Should there be public outrage?

I’m guessing that investigation revealed the accident was the pedestrian’s fault, and that Stallworth could not have avoided the impact even if he was sober.

I’m also guessing that the victim’s family requested leniency as a result of the hefty financial settlement Stallworth agreed to.

ETA: As far as the public outrage thing, probably; but Leonard Little got 2 DUIs and killed someone and the silence was deafening.

According to news reports, the pedestrian he struck was running to catch a bus and ran out into the street in front of Stallworth’s car. The implication is that the DA has determined that the accident had nothing to do with the fact that Stallworth’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit.

I suspect that the sentence isn’t unusual for this sort of case. Whether that’s right or not is another story.

I’ve had an idiot run right in front of my car when he was trying to catch a bus. I didn’t him, but I came withing a fraction of an inch of doing so. Naturally the idiot ran right into a busy street against traffic. I was head south and was changing lines as i saw the stopped bus in the far right lane, the idiot ran out to catch the bus into traffic. I was stone cold sober, but I could have very easily hit him. Stallworth probably couldn’t have avoided the accident even if he was sober. I"m not outraged.
