Ok, I’ve been told by many folks that my ability to mimic numerous accents, as well as work a range of voices is impressive.
What I would like to know is how one goes about getting started in voice acting? For example, if I have a goal of being a cartoon voice, how would I go about it?
I knew one guy who claimed to have worked part-time as a voice actor on cartoons. The only insight I remember him telling me was:
“It’s one thing to be able to make a cute sound with your voice. It’s quite another to be able to make that sound over and over again during a four-hour recording session without going hoarse.”
I met this guy when I was living in the Los Angeles, California area. I believe just about every TV show on Earth is produced in the L.A. area, cartoons included. If you don’t live in or near L.A., your options as a voice talent will be drastically limited.
