I found this bit of trivia at IMDb: “When the film was colorized, an introduction was filmed by actor Patrick Macnee who extolled its virtues and claimed it as a favorite of his without ever mentioning that he appeared in it as the young Jacob Marley.” A Christmas Carol (1951) - Trivia - IMDb
I have the DVD, and I found this really hard to believe. But I re-checked the intro and closing segments and I was astounded to find this is absolutely correct!
It was colorized in 1989, so it was first broadcast then or later, and I’m sure I watched this at the time. IIRC there were other Macnee segments used at commercial breaks, which naturally would not be included on a videocassette or the DVD. I’m pretty sure that in one of them he mentions he played the young Marley. In fact, I think that may have been the first time that I realized that. His name’s in the credits, of course, but without his role.
Does anyone else remember this from the broadcast?
