A cool thing to try.

I’m ashamed of you :frowning:

I’m a she, and one of the highlights of late summer used to be sitting on mom’s picnic table in the back yard and plinking the crab apples off the tree…

Did it again a couple of summers ago shortly after the divorce and discovered that it’s a WONDERFUL stress reliever.

Especially if you photo copy little tiny pics of the ex and tape them to the crab apples!!! <jk - I wouldn’t waste that much time on the jerk.>

Guns don’t explode watermelons. Watermelons explode watermelons.

When I was but a lad, I took a can of Coke, and heated it up on the stove before taking it down to the unfinished basement, shaking it up, and popping it with my pellet gun. And yes, it was way cool!

Happily my folks never found out that I had done that! They pretty much left the basement to me, and I got to using it as my shooting gallery for BB and pellet guns. I was so good with my spring action BB pistol (one of those that looked like a .45 auto) that I could actually make small objects “dance” across the floor.

Ah, yes, back when I was a lad. Now I’m over 40, and still don’t feel “grown up” enough to own a real gun. Not to mention they are illegal here in Chicago anyway. And there isn’t anything around here that really seems to be shot that I could shoot legally (the car with the alarm going off at 2 in the morning would be pretty tempting though!)

Actually, Sandyr, I wasn’t referring to the shooting part so much. I know how to shoot a gun myself, and enjoy it on the occasions when I do it. Ultress and Aenea are also women who’ve chimed in with shooting stories. I was really referring to the shooting-stuff-in-such-a-way-as-to-make-it-explode part. I maintain that, for the most part, exploding things for fun is a man thang.

Has anyone ever heard of firing a .380 ACP through a 9mm? I’ve heard of people doing this through a Glock 17? Some have said that it can be done safely. Anyone tried it?

jenkinsfan: trying to fire .380ACP ammo in a firearm chambered for 9mm is a bad idea. Without going into lots of technical details like headspacing on the case mouth, suffice it to say: don’t do it. Besides, what would be the point? You can obtain 9mm ammo loaded in many bullet weights/designs and muzzle velocities. And if you are a handloader, the components available allow a vast number of combinations.

The origins of this misconception might have something to do with the fact that the .380ACP round is known in Europe as the “9mm Short”, and the bullet diameter (.355") is the same for both rounds. But the two types of ammunition are not interchangeable.

ok, First you take a large plastic jar of play-doh, remove the lid, insert m-80 (or quarter stick where available) into the dough, put a whole into the lid for the wick, recap. I always blasted them in the woods hanging from trees, would give a twenty foot sphere a nice coloring.
It is hard to compete with melons though…
