A couple of questions regarding names.

I have two first names, one long middle name that could be considered two names (it’s a combo name) and a last name.

I HATE those tests where you only have 25 boxes to put your complete name. Doesn’t fit at all.

I usually go by my full first name, or a variation thereof.

LilMiss has her dad’s last name, so half the time I am called MrsExLastName.

There’s enough confusion with my names that were I ever to completely lose any semblence of sanity and get married, taking his last name would just eff things up more. So I always and forever be a MissTake.

My parents almost switched my middle and first name just so I could have the whole first intial name. E. Kathryn Everett just sounds so neat! Its a great writers name. (Not that I’m a writer)

So I’ve been considering doing it anyway.

Oh, and I have three names.

I am with you on that. My family has the tradition that every first born male be named “James”. This tradition, as I recently found out, dates back at least to the early 1500’s before the family tree cuts out. The weird part is that none of us are allowed to go by it. The middle name is the name that you go by in my family. If I ever have a son, I will follow in this tradition. My middle name, “my real name”, is rather unique and I love it. I also get irritated by people that insist on calling me “James” or “Jim”. I have gotten into several arguments over it after I have corrected them and they have failed to comply. I have considered swapping the order of my first and middle names but it doesn’t sound right. I usually sign all of my important documents as “J. Maverick P***” and leave informal douments as “Maverick P***”.

Like some of the others I come standard equipped with four names. First, Middle, Middle’, Last.

And so will my son. It’s a family thing.

Firstborn sons get their own name, it goes first.

Then comes the grandfathers name, it goes second.

Then comes the fathers name, it goes third.

Then comes the family name.

Should I have a son to keep Baby Kate company we’ll follow that pattern.

Seriously, the family has been doing this for centuries. We may have been poor Louisiana shitkickers but we hold our traditions dear.

Okay okay, fine, you dropped one name, took another name. Got room in there to have the last name Tooniverse ???

Another possible reason for going by [initial] [middle name] [lastname] is that some people just have first names they’d rather not share.

I have a first name and a last name. That’s it.

I gave my daughter a first name and a last name. No middle.

I dislike middle names and it seems no one uses them anyway.

I was given an unpronouncable first name, two middle names, and a last name. Later my mother forced us to use our stepfather’s name. Then I had two husbands.

I’ve decided to use my two middle names as my full name until I die.
