A Couple of TOTAL ASSHOLES

Yes, Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence.

If it turns out that Paula Yates’ death was a suicide just like her dead lovers’ (oh how romantic, cack), then both of these fucking idiots should burn forever.

In their entire self-centered, totally self-absorbed little lives, did they EVER ask themselves what this would do to their children? All the therapy in the world will not keep these kids from thinking, “if I were only better, mommy & daddy wouldn’t have left.”

What selfish assholes. It breaks my heart to think of thier kids. If you are depressed and need help, THEN GET IT. Don’t selfishly ruin your kids entire lives because of your bullshit.

Just for the record it is not certain that she intentionally killed herself.

Whatever is the truth the poor woman was in a bad way but she has left her poor children motherless whether she intended to kill herself or not.

Also she always challenaged the fact that Hutchence killed himself. It was her contention that he died while indulging in autoerotic-asphyxiation.

One way or the other they could not be held up as the model parents of the year by any means

I’m not sure we really know very much for a fact although it does seem Paula Yates was very depressed. I keep catching references to ‘depression’ around the Board so I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who could comment but…….

It really is difficult to understand what clinical depression can do to someone unless you’ve been there. You can be the strongest, most independent, carefree person imaginable and then something, or a combination of stuff, happens and bamb…it’s like you become a completely different person weighed done by an incredibly heavy force. And you don’t think as you used to, either.

I didn’t take medication (thank God) but I believe Paula Yates did. She never got over the loss of Hutchence and felt her whole life was undermined when she found out her father was someone else. There may have been more.

It takes a lot to lose sight of the fact that you have children who need you. In a rational mind, watching them grow must also be the best reason to keep on living. Whether it was depression alone that caused it, or in combination with prescribed or other drugs, she did lose sight of any reason to live. I guess she couldn’t hang on any longer.

I never really liked her TV persona, saw her a few times with Hutchence at the swimming pool (he seemed like a great guy) with the kids but know nothing more about her. I just think: there but for the grace of God go many of us.

From what I heard today, it was no doubt a total Suicide. She was found with Alcohol, pot, a bottle of pills and some heroin…inconclusive? Add to that the fact that she was saved by a friend from attempting suicide A la Michael Hutchence(a noose), I think we have definite suicide.

It’s about as “inconclusive” as Jon Benet Ramsey’s death…

This is the first I’ve heard about it (not that I’ve done much investigation into Hutchence’s death. I think my reaction when I first heard about was, “He was still alive?”). I’m a little confused. Was she trying to protect his honor in some way?

Well yes, I think she was. Death by suicide or death by way of a sexual act that went wrong. Tough choices - probably have to go with the hard on in the end.

No evidence has come to light (as far as I know) that Hutchence had anything going on that might cause him to be suicidal. On the contrary, all the evidence points to a guy very happy and comfortable with his life.

There are several examples of high profile figures – usually politicians- who went to far while indulging in autoerotic asphyxiation. It’s a dangerous game at the best of times and, of course, Hutchence was partial to a little chemical indulgence. His judgment, and judgment is pretty crucial when you’re hanging from a belt and close to passing out, could easily have been affected by recreational drugs.

That was the impression she gave in an interview shortly afterwards. She was also very insistent that Hutchence would never have committed suicide and left her and the child, abandoning them and his responsibilities. If she felt like that still, perhaps it wasn’t suicide.

Anyway, suicide or accident - looking after a four year old child, whilst indulging in that much alcohol and pills and heroin? nope, can’t argue with EJsGirl.

London- Wasn’t Hutchence very upset about the terrible custody fight between Paula Yates and Bob Geldof? I understood it to be very ugly and upsetting to both he and Paula?

And please tell me that the LA Times was wrong in reporting that Tiger Lily, the 4 year old daughter, was trying to “wake up mommy” when the paramedics arrived!!!

Remember, not just her 1 child with Hutchence, but 3 with Geldof.

I was not trying to be overly judgemental or anything, but I have a son and I could NEVER leave him helpless and alone, no matter how shitty things got (and things have been shitty for me and will again).
