A Cricket World Cup

Ponting 140*, 8 sixes.

India have a mountain to climb. If they make it it will be a great match.

What a fantastic innings! Anyone still going for India?

That was an incredible effort by the Australians. I don’t like Indias chances at this stage, but on such a good wicket I am looking forward to seeing the Australian bowlers in action.

It is going to be a late night.

Given the amount of seam, spin and swing the Indians were getting in the first 15 overs, it would not have been out of the question that Australia could have been rolled for under 150, so I wouldn’t call it a good pitch, but a good toss to win on a responsive pitch wasted by indisiplined, wayward bowling.

With the number of wides and no-balls being sent down the Aussie top order could get well settled in batting at a safe 4 runs/over whilst actually scoring at 6.

Also, did you see Gangouly’s “catch” of Gilchrist off Singh. No wonder he gets under people’s skins.

It comes off the thigh pad so slowly and obviously that neither bowler or keeper appeal, he catches it on the bounce and then throws it to the heavens like he’s taken some screamer.

Yes I saw that “catch”. Gilchrist had a good come back to it when the replay was shown on the big screen at the ground.

Marvellous Batting By Ponting

I just loved watching his batting .

Kudos to the Aussies

Congratulations Australia

Commiserations India

Well done to Australia. Everyone was looking for them to fall at the last hurdle and instead they proved beyond all doubt their dominance.

A brilliant innings by Ponting too, probably the best ever in a Final.

a very disciplined performace from the aussies, showing that when it really matters they can fire up…
sure they won 11 gaems in the tournament, but until the final the never really quite looked at the top of their game, a few performances not withstanding.
to score your highest ODI total ever in the WC final is just a great effort from what most likely is the best ODI team ever.
