My friends and I were driving back from a midnight movie this evening, on Highway 280. Along the way, we see a bunch of police cruisers and fire trucks. A police officer directs us to a single open lane where we drive slowly past.
There was a terrible accident, one car was manged up and upside down, and 3-4 (can’t remember the exact number) cars were scattered along the area in various states of damage. But the most disturbing thing was as we were driving past, I saw something on the ground, a sheet. A gust of wind ruffled it, and underneath was a woman’s body
I understand an experience like this can really affect you for a while. no offense intended.
When I see something like this, it usually causes me to really evaluate my life in terms of the “what if I died tomorrow, what would I regret?” question.
Well, what freaked me out about it was that whenever I picture myself getting in an accident, I always imagine possibly getting injured, maybe laid up in a hospital bed for some time. I do not imagine a couple of paramedics saying, “He’s gone” and tossing a sheet over me on the road while they rescue people who are still alive
