A Dog Named Rabies

I can remember seeing some movie/TV show where a kid had a dog named “Rabies,” but I’ve no idea what it was. Anyone know?

Hmmm…any chance you might be thinking of a comic strip? IIRC correctly, in very, very early Bloom County comics Milo has a dog named Rabies.

Seems like a bad idea in real life.

You accidentally drop the leash, the dog starts running towards someone, and you start yelling Rabies! Rabies!

And yes, Milo did have a dog named Rabies, but he didn’t show up after the first year or so.

Doubtful. I can distinctly remember a scene with two kids sitting outside, talking, and one of them explaining how Rabies got his/her name. Seems when the dog showed up in the neighborhood, everyone thought it had rabies, and the name just kind of stuck.

No, I never really watched many of the “Our Gang” films, and IIRC this was in color that I saw, while the film you link to was in black and white.

Dunno, never saw that movie. Refuse to watch anything with “Babs” in it, unless she’s terrorizing a small, Colorado town.
