A Few Good Men

Just watched this movie again after a few years. Something in it kinda struck me as odd. How is that we can have a US military base in a foreign country that we are not on good terms with? In this case, Cuba.

The base was established in 1898 during the Spanish-American War.

After that, we just decided to keep it there no matter what Cuba thought about it. Yes, technically we have a hundred-year-old lease, but I doubt that Castro is much inclined to honor the terms.

The official web site.

I’ve heard that although we keep making payments to Castro for the leased land, he has never cashed a single check and keeps them in a drawer to show select tourists.

D’oh, I usually use Search too. Was too lazy this time.
