a few misc. questions

I figured I may as well pack all of my questions into one thread. No real need to multipost.

PS: Hello to all. It’s nice to be back.
Q #1: Is there any way to remove yellow highliter from the pages of a book, without damaging the text or the paper?

Q #2: Is there any way to remove a minor coffee stain from the pages of a book, without damaging the text or the paper? The paper of this particular volume is very delicate.

I had some wag theories for solving the above, but am not confident enough to attempt them. They are: For Q #1: Leave the pages with the highlight exposed to direct sunlight for a few days?? For Q #2: Dab hydrogen peroxide on the paper with a cotton swab??

Q #3: (Unrelated to above) What would result, if a person were to drink 8 to 16 oz. of distilled white vinegar? (No, I will not try it.)

Magical Silver Key , I’d take those book questions to a library or a museum. They have training for that sort of thing. My guess is that your chances are better on the coffee than the hiliter. Definitely don’t try sunlight or peroxide before getting professional advice.

I haven’t a clue on the vinegar question. I work with a guy who drinks small amounts of cider vinegar daily for its supposed health benefits. I don’t think he takes more than a couple ounces a day, though, watered down so he can barely taste it. What he takes is probably no more than he’d get in a salad or two.

Drinking viniger straight will cause diarrhea. However it depends on how much you drink.

MSK these are really GQ itmes more than MPSIMS.

Re the vinegar per efrem’s comment, try eating a pound or so of sauerkraut sometime (which has a similar PH) and see what happens. I did this once in college when trying to lose weight. Only once. Explosive diarrhea and it’s even more acidy going out than going in. Not fun.

:::sigh::: I thought they were pretty “mundane” questions. Oh well, I tried.

As for the vinegar thing, the answers given are what I had assumed what would happen.
