A few questions for Donald Rumsfeld

His is but a single voice in a chorus that started singing before Bush even took office. Wolfowitz, Pearle, Chenney, Bush, etc all knew that the truth of this war would eventually be exposed. All that was needed was the opportunity to start it. Once the battle was engaged, and blood was spilled on both sides, they knew that there would be no immediate pull out. The occupation of Iraq and the gradual “hand-over” of power will be a process of years. During this time the survival of the country will become completely dependent on U.S./U.K. sanctioned investment in the country (via the INC and the UN Security Council, of course). Access to and distribution of Iraq’s natural resources will be under the direct control of multi-national corporations (with the protection of an “impressive and diverse” array of international troops) while the “fledgling” democracy struggles to become relevant and functional. In the end, a U.S. dependent puppet regime (i.e. Saudi Arabia) will be installed and Iraq will become another colony of the New Empire.

Yep, just like we did in Panama and Grenada. Oh wait, they are democracies!

Try again.

How astute of you…

Greneda was in the midst of a lot of internal turmoil after the assassination of PM Maurice Bishop in October 1983, and the establishment of the “shoot-on-sight” curfew established by the Revolutionary Military Council. The acting Govenor General of Greneda (Paul Scoon) REQUESTED assistance from the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States. The resulting governmental system was much more “acceptable” to the U.S. than the Marxist/Leninist Maurice Bishop.

Panama was invaded after Noriega ostensibly stole the election for the “rightfully elected” (U.S. backed) Guillermo Endara and openly declared a state of war between the U.S. and Panama. Noriega was deposed and Endara was inagurated on a U.S. military base in Panama. His admistration fostered a return to power of the European descendant “elite” in Panama.

(Oh wait, both of those “actions” were also in blatant violation of international law and condemned by the international community.)

Here is a nice piece by Fareed Zakaria about the Rumsfeld article:
