A fingernail chat

Well, after finally kicking my nail biting habit, I need some info from all you Dopers who have fingernails.

Firstly, is there any product, food or cream that will make them stronger ?

Secondly, I’m going for my first ever manicure soon. (birthday pressie from mum) Is there anything I should do before I go ? Anything I need to ask or look for ? What should I expect ? Are the manicure scenes in Legally Blonde what I should expect, or was that just Hollywood’s take on it ? (Hopefully not the bend and snap lesson  )

(you can probably tell I’m not very girly, but mum wants to treat me to a manicure now that I have nails, so I’m going to humour her… besides, I’m a little curious)

Heh…I have no idea, as I just stopped biting mine in February.

I use Sally Hansen “Hard as Nails,” but I don’t know how helpful it actually is…just that a layer of shellac helps keep them from bending all the way back when I’m washing the dishes.

Hi Goo. I use Sally’s products also. They have been around for some time and pretty much do what they are supposed to.

One of my favorite ways to pamper myself is a manicure (good idea, Goo’s Mum). They’ll probably trim your cuticles, file your nails, and such; some nail salons even give you a mini hand/arm massage. Once your nails look nice and healthy it may be an added incentive to keep them out of your mouth.

However long it has been since you stopped nail-biting–good for you! {Good for Goo} :).
