A flock of Prius.

A Gore of Priuses

I’ve been in two VWs recently. First time since back when they just made the Beetle and the van. I was singularly unimpressed with the interior finishes. For what they charge for the damn things, I expected some sense of luxury.

According to VW, they suggest “Prii” as the plural, after polling their customers.

To which I say “Balderdash!” It’s “Priuses” to me, bub. Life is complicated enough without adding more special cases.

There are three on my one block long residential street (and one Volt)… in Houston suburb.

(Well, technically two right now since I recently totaled mine, but I am hoping to get a replacement soon!)

So you’re revolting?

That’s right, fast and bulbous.

lol … I’m all for carbon mitigation and I think it’s a great car, but the name is disturbingly evocative of “pious”. The Tesla folks have of course taken notice and responded in kind. Though it may not be widely known that the “s” in “Model S” stands for “Sanctimonious”.

I asked my 90 year old neighbor’s "boyfriend"about the plug in issue and he told me it didn’t have to be plugged in as it charges itself. (We all live in condos even if we would rather live in a yellow submarine.)

Wait, the Nissan Leaf doesn’t have to be plugged in?

Well, damn, I got to get me one of those. Is it capable of faster-than-light speeds, too?

To plug in or not to plug in, that is a question… that I get asked about the Prius a lot. I guess folks just get all these new-fangled cars mixed up a bit.

I see the new Prius EV has both a hybrid engine and a plug in electric. It gets a max of 95 MPG, but not all the time. It then rolls over to hybrid which gets about 50.

Hmm, I dunno, “Space Age Hybrid Car Song” just doesn’t have the right ring to it.

I think you should submit the idea.

MEBuckner: I don’t know nothin bout no Leafs; we was discussing Priuses.

Oddly, I would love a Tesla but I can’t spend that much on a car. I got my Prius at one of the best times I guess and only paid $22k total after trading in a Focus with 180,000 miles on it. So for me the Prius was a great deal except I am fat with crappy knees and the Prius is just a bit uncomfortable for my 38 mile each way commute. My Focus was better. Also while I can still carry home 10’ boards in my Prius I cannot get my broken snow blower in it and get it repaired. That wasn’t a problem when I bought it as my wife had a minivan but now she is in a Honda Accord.

My plan is to give my daughter the Prius when she turns 17. It will have around 80,000 miles at that point and then find another fuel efficient car that is affordable and a little more comfortable for my long commute.

A Tether of Toyotas.

A Peck of Priusii.

I love mine, and am proud that I’ve enrolled her ( Yes. She’s a Her. What of it?? ) in a playgroup in the neighborhood.

Every time I have a Prius in front of the Grand Cherokee, the thought that runs through my head is “Outta the way, hippie!

So, tear-ass bulbous?

Also, a tin tear drop.

That’s right!

I think 98% (exactly) of cars I see are damned ugly anyway. Priuses are no worse than the rest. Also, I think cars are noisy, dangerous and polluting, and I resent the way our cities and towns have been torn up in order to accomodate them.

Give me a nice train instead, especially if it looks like a peregrine falcon that’s been stuffed into a wedge-shaped glass bottle.

By the way, the correct term is “a battery of Priuses”.
