A four thousand dollar trip to Europe for a fourteen year old?

Is Carl’s Jr. in Hawaii?

I heard Carl’s Sr. retired there.

Avoid poi. I have a theory about where they get it, but I won’t go into it here.

I’m sure you’re right about that. The GoFundMe page was created about 3 months ago without much of a response. I’m thinking there may be a big payment due soon and that is what prompted the SDMB thread. So I guess Mistee may have to take out a second mortgage or something.

I just can’t imagine having signed my kid up for a trip I wasn’t sure I could pay for. My son’s trip is this coming fall, during fall break of his senior year. The class started planning the trip at the beginning of their sophomore year.

I would sign up and, if I didn’t have the immediate resources, I’d go talk to the nice lady at the bank.

Maybe she was really confident of finding enough dupes.

I just know there’s a pun/joke here using “Gropeon”

I always have these kernels of humor, but I just can’t ever close the deal…

There are nice ladies working at banks! Jeez, I’ll have to dress a little better the next time I go in.

Yes, it is.

Yes!

If you look at the GoFundMe page, a few people have actually donated (including someone who’s making a monthly donation), though I imagine they’re probably relatives or family friends. And not a whole lot of money has been raised anyway.

That’s not the only possible source.

Or go beg on a message board she rarely visits.

And just to mention, Carl’s Jr. is here in Bangkok too.

This amused me greatly. No, she won’t. She’ll maybe get to view a leather*working *demonstration (bags, probably), but they’re not letting a gaggle of 14 yo’s near hexavalent chrome…

Ooh! Pick me! Pick me!
47 years old, only trip outside the U.S. was to Canada when I was 5. Never really went anywhere within the U.S. unless it was for work, except for one Spring Break trip to Florida my senior year of high school (paid for that myself. My parents would have laughed in my face if I’d asked them to fund it, which makes sense. After all, they weren’t taking me on vacations because they couldn’t go on vacations).

I have conversations with my kids frequently about how we can’t always afford what their friends’ families can. It makes me feel like crap sometimes, but it’s life. There’s always going to be someone with something nicer.

Anyway, monstro, you’re in for a donation, right?

Misstee, wait 3 years, take your daughter to the Navy recruiter and sit her down. Ask her if she still has this ambition to see Europe for free. If she answers yes, sign her up.

Maybe they will get to see the part where they strip the skin off the cow. I hear in the old days the best leather was made when the cow was still alive at the time.

I’m fairly certain that I haven’t ever paid $4000 for a holiday for myself, mostly because any “extra” money goes for things like dental work.
