lezlers is doing a great job of defending herself. But I’m confused as to why she even HAS to have been put into that position? I obviously (and it seems other posters feel this way too in this thread), do NOT see lezlers’ smart alecky posts as meaning what Diane somehow misconstrued them to mean.
Her (lezlers’), very first post here was an offhand, somewhat smartalecky “someone’s gonna get flamed”. And then another flippant post referring to “offenderati”.
I cannot, for the LIFE of me, figure out how Diane and a few others took those posts and translated them into:…
“…and I agree with the OP’s bigotry…etc etc…”
Like Diane, I’ve seen numerous posts by lezlers. Most of the time, she’s got some really good input for various threads. And, a some of the time she’s got a flippant, irreverent remark to make. If I remember, I’ve even had some mild disagreements with her on a point or two (the memory is the first to go)
Ummmm, did I miss something? Or, as so many longtime dopers like to point out “this IS the pit isn’t it”??? So, since when is it suddenly verboten to post smart alecky posts in answer to OPs etc???
I agree with jtzania that in many ways, both lezlers and Diane have similar posting styles. But, (and I haven’t seen many posts by Diane), I don’t remember lezlers as being so quick to decide FOR another poster what her post meant, and then getting all angry about it and running with it.
I don’t particularly care about Diane or lezlers’ grudges against each other. I just thought Offenderati is kind of a stupid and useless term. It seems like I see it a lot lately, as frequently as not someone popping up to say “Look! I’m the Offenderati! This thread offends me!” in a thread on a hot button topic that hasn’t actually had any offended people really pop in yet. Which is basically putting a strawman in a thread and knocking it down all in one post, and with no previous instigation in the thread to do so. Just seems silly to me. Can’t we discuss these topics in a thread without someone coming in to smack a silly label on everyone who mentions a mildly negative reaction to something they found bothersome?
And maybe time will tell if Diane will actually listen to a reasonable argument or assesment, such as jlzania and Canvasshoes have taken the time to make, instead of ignoring them in favor of making snitty little comments like a disgruntled schoolgirl.
At that point, I would have been on the floor laughing at his hissy fit. Maybe it’s just me, but when people decide to make fools of themselves so loudly and publicly, I can’t help but laugh. Keeps the urge to kill from rising too high.
