I stand by any accusations I have made regarding the above, especially in regards to IDBB.
Well, in that case, bigot essentially means stubborn, unwilling to be open to reason. I’d love for you to tell me how I’m a bigot since I’ve engaged in many a reasonable discussion about my beliefs and opinons, something I haven’t witnessed you doing, as you prefer to just let the personal insults fly and to hell with anyone who disagrees. And how are you not a bigot?
I Dig Bad Boys or I Dumb Braindead Bigot?
I could ignore your mewling for attention. I could refrain from calling you a whiny self absorbed fucktard who would rather sit in the pile of shit that is your life, moaning about the reek and how t versus oh, doing something about it.
But this is the most asinine thing that has come out of your mouth. Congratulations, you have officially revealed that you have gone from Simpering Attention Whore to Flamingly Racist Douchebag.
After all, it’s everyone’s fault but yours that your life sucks the stray pubes out of Courtney Love’s Brazilian, right? Grow up.
All I gotta say is:
Is that gave me a visual picture gross enough to make me turn off my computer and go home!
O My!
Just had to post that quote again, because today I was researching something (totally unrelated) about immigration and stumbled on a White Supremacist Site:
“Most of these non-White races breed much faster than Whites do. The result has been a steady rise in the percentage of non-White minorities in America. If you live on a farm in Kansas or the Dakotas you may not have noticed the change. If you live in Florida or California or New York, however, you certainly have noticed it. In fact, most of our people who live in America’s larger cities have had their faces rubbed in it.” etc.
There’s membership info. on that site, IDBB
wish all of you who feel compelled to repost that particular quote would start it off from the “Texas” line. I don’t like that such a fucked up statement was directed to me.
Hah! Sorry wring. I hit reply from the first page and didn’t realize how everyone had jumped on that particular quote. I think it appears four times on the second page. So when are you gonna just come out and say it, wring??
nothing personal, you were just the most recent. the quote that wouldn’t die.
As to when I’ll ‘come out and say it’ - let’s just say that only a select few should hold their breath til I do, ok?
Holy duels to the death, Diane and lezlers-you two aren’t about to let this go, are you?
You know what I think is so funny about the whole situation?
On my right we have Diane, a woman quick to take offence when she perceives that a poster is being gratuitously hurtful and unkind.
On my left we have lezlers, a woman quick to take offence when she perceives that a poster is being gratuitously hurtful and unkind.
Both abhor bullying.
Both abhor bigotry.
Both can be quite reasonable except when they feel that they’ve been unfairly castigated.
Both are stubborn as hell.
Both make a point of arguing on behalf the ‘underdogs”.
Diane feels that regular posters have recently been hurt by thoughtless and spiteful comments made by relatively new posters.
lezlers feels that new posters have recently been hurt by thoughtless and spiteful comments made by relatively old posters.
Diane is admittedly more caustic right out of the gate but then, let’s remember that she’s also has a few more years practice on the SDMB.
Within a few years, I predict that lezlers will be her equal in the early insult.
Y’all could be a force to be reckoned with if you banded together to fight the powers of evil but luckily, I don’t think I have to loose any sleep about that ever happening, now do I?
You know, jlzania, I’ve thought the same thing. I think that’s why Diane and I butt heads so often, we’re way too similar in our arguing styles. We just argue opposite positions. And yes, we’re both stubborn as all hell. I just can’t let comments directed at me go unanswered. It’s a bad habit.
One difference though, I’ve never called Diane a bigot, or anyone else on this board. I take that word seriously and don’t like to toss it around like it’s nothing. So yeah, when someone comes at me calling me that, with nothing whatsoever to back up the accusation, I’ll be on their asses. I don’t back down. Unfortuantely, neither does she.
Actually, there’s a slight difference in our arguing styles. I prefer to attack someone’s argument or position, she usually is happy to just insult the poster. We might just get somewhere if she’d cut out the childish name calling and attempt to have a respectful discussion with me.
Daaaaamn.
People sure get bent out of shape over stuff here, don’t they?
No disagreement there, lezlers.
As I said earlier, Diane does tend to shoot first and ask questions later.
Do you think it could be because she’s been here longer?
I’ve noticed that often posters that are normally quite pleasant have certain hot buttons.
Try making a blatantly nasty anti-gay statement and see how slack gobear and our other gay posters cut you.
Maybe after you’ve presented the same calm and logical argument for the umpteenth million time, you become so frustrated by the level of ignorance out there that you just have to call the poster an idiotic sum sucking mofo to stop your brain from exploding.
Just a thought.
Welcome to the boards. You may want to research your friend’s posting history before commenting. This has been building for a while.
jlzania,
I don’t think the amount of time you’ve spent here has that much to do with it. There’s a lot of long time posters who manage to keep a level head as well as some newbies who fly off the handle at a drop of a pin. I think it has more to do with the nature of the invidiual poster than the “amount of time served”.
Thing is, I don’t say blantently nasty comments about any group of people, so the rest of your post doesn’t really apply to me. I’ll stick up for someone if I feel as if they’re being unfairly bashed, as I did for bottled blonde genie, but feel fee to do a search on my posts, and you’ll discover that I’ve made no anti gay, anti fat, anti weasel or any other anti posts. That’s why I balk at being called a bigot. I simply feel that someones right not to be offended doesn’t trump someone elses right to express their opinion. Object all you want, but simply calling the “offender” nasty names and/or telling them they have no right to say something or completely hijack their thread with your discontent, and I take issue with you.
So I don’t think it’s a matter of them seeing “the same ignorant bullshit”, I think it’s a matter of them being pissed off that someone dares to question their rightous indignation over every little thing.
I’d also like to thank you for your level headed thoughts about myself and Diane’s little situation. It is appreciated.
Sorry to interrupt the Diane vs. Lezlers Battle to the Death…
IDBB thinks that it’ll take till the end of the century for Texas to be predominately Mexican. I pray that it comes much sooner, yea, verily, in her lifetime.
Nothing, and I mean nothing will cleanse this young lass of that smug attitude of entitlement and superiority than the every day reality of being always outnumbered. And believe you me when I say that there is no one on the SDMB who deserves that reality more.
Clueless Whiner to Bigoted Bitch in one thread. Is that a new Dope record?
 Not… MEXICANS! I better leave the state before they get here! Mexicans! Honestly! Whatever is the world coming to.
On the other topic, what’s Offenderati, anyway? It strikes me as just being a way to try to belittle your opponant’s point by making up a silly name for it instead of really addressing why you disagree with it. It doesn’t strike me as being terribly helpful except in expressing how superior you feel to those stupid Offenderati who disagree with you.
Sort of how the top statements weren’t helpful except in expressing how superior I feel to people who are scared of Texas being overrun with Mexicans.
Exactly.
But don’t you see that is how she doesn’t “say blantently nasty comments about any group of people” or how she prefers “to attack someone’s argument or position” instead of being “happy to just insult the poster”.
She has made it quite obvious in this thread that she doesen’t understand the concept of the pot and kettle and I am certain that she never will.
I’m done wasting my time with her.
Good point Thrasymachus (what IS that anyway??? :D)
I didn’t elaborate very well in my post. Several dopers including me, HAVE lined out some good “jumping off points” for IDBB in posts past, I was trying to avoid going over stuff already discussed.
But anyway, when I say “education” (and I should have explained at least this), I’m not meaning just college. There are a number of fields that one can become self educated in, or that a person can get a vocational certificate in.
Even if a person does decide to work in a service industry, there are ways to do that, that are more beneficial (to the worker) than settling for “dead end” jobs. Ways that can include owning your own service business, or finding a way to market an idea, product or service on your own for instance. No shame in that!
So called “dead end” jobs DO serve their purpose, you’re very correct there. They are great first jobs for young people, retirees, people between “real” jobs, etc.
And as people in other threads have pointed out, some people ARE happy with “low stress” (though how someone can consider waiting on the public “low stress” is beyond me :D) jobs requiring no skills etc.
But with IDBB, she obviously IS very unhappy with her “lot in life” so to speak. Staying in various dead end jobs isn’t working.
And you know the definition of insanity right? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting to get different results??
In her case and for other young people like her, some form of education, or vocational job training is really the only way out of the type of work they’re doing and which is NOT suitable for them (based on their skill set, personalities etc).
(hope that made sense, I’m UIC [under the influence of chocolate])
That’s great Diane, I’m happy you’re done wasting your time with me. Does that mean you’ll quit insulting me and going off in every thread I’m active in about how tired you are of me?
I hope so.
Canvasshoes, I totally agree. I think some vocational training would be great for IDBB
