Science certainly gives strange names to animals when they congregate. Here are some that I have heard:
geese-skein
crows-murder
cows-herd:)
My question is: has anyone heard of a name for a group of bears? Football jokes aside, I realise that bears do not typically congregate, so maybe there is not one in common usage. Any thoughts?
Google [collective name bears]
First hit.
FWIW, science does not give these names; most of them were assigned by amateur naturalists, poets, and other whimsical folk.
FWIW, geese are a skein only when flying. On the ground, they’re a flock, and afloat, they’re a gaggle. A group of bears is a called a sloth.
I think Cecil did a column on this once, but the only one I can find right now is on what the proper name is for a particular animal’s dropping.
So what do you call a group of “HOT chicks getting fucked hard”?
