A good news story : couple married on wharf in New Brunswick So American family can see them across the river

He’s Canadian, she’s dual. His family’s in Canada, her family’s in Canada and the States.

So where do they get married? On a wharf in St Stephen, New Brunswick, on the St Croix River, just across from Calais, Maine. Family could gather on both sides of the river and social distance, and watch and hear the wedding aided, by technology like drones.

And her grandparents were on a boat in the middle of the river, as close as they could get from the US side.

Congratulations to the happy (and innovative) couple!

Somewhat similarly, a family on both sides of the border (Vermont and Quebec) join to celebrate a birthday. They can’t touch, and cannot even share a birthday cake, but they can sing “Happy Birthday,” and take photos–as long as nobody touches, or steps across the clearly-demarcated border:

It looks from the WCAX video that they had a fine time in spite of the restrictions. Happy birthday, Annette Pion!

I was surprised to see a single line. I would have expected two distanced lines, to keep everybody sufficiently apart.
