A good sleep - do you prefer to dream?

How about construction nearby or some other reason you keep getting woken up every hour?

Absolutely, yes. As others mentioned, dreaming means that you’re sleeping well enough to get REM and without it, bad things happen. Beyond that, my dreams at least are generally pretty awesome. Most of the time, my memory of dreams is fleeting, but I often remember stuff like flying or getting interesting perspectives on things going on in my life. I haven’t recently, because I’ve been aiming to do other things with my dreams, but often I can have lucid dreams which, of course, are even more awesome.

Now, if the differentiation is between remembering them or not, it really depends. Most of the time it doesn’t really serve much purpose to remember a dream. So, really, unless I have some sort of realization during a dream of something that I can or should apply to my life, I don’t particularly care if I remember them while awake or not.

I’ll take the dreams. A weird fact about myself: I actually enjoy what most would consider nightmares.
The ones I don’t particularly care for are the “Pee/frustration” dreams. The dreams where you’re trying like hell to find a bathroom to relieve yourself but you just can’t seem to find one. Then you finally wake up and go pee.

Well obviously that is not good either, but if you start to get really dream deprived your brain will deal with it by going int REM much earlier in the sleep period, so you will still get a good bit of REM dreaming into each hour of sleep that you have.

Very likely, if you are being frequently awoken by noise during the night but are able to get back to sleep each time, you will remember having a lot of dreams, because the noise will quite often be waking you during dreams.

Maybe I’m self-absorbed but I love it when I dream and can remember my dreams because I find them entertaining and fun to dissect. However, I never subject other people to a recounting of my dreams.
