Found this image while researching a lake I might head over to this weekend.
Initially I had no idea what it was but finally ended up calling it the start of a forest fire. The lack of smoke and the weird shape of the fire make me doubt my conclusion though.
I don’t think it’s fire. No smoke, as you say, and you can see tractor tyre marks on the ground. I think it’s either crops (rapeseed?) or bare soil which for some reason is showing up as a funky colour due to imaging problems.
Edit - for comparison, rapeseed fields in England. The imagery in the OP’s post is lower resolution (satellite rather than aerial photography, I think) which could account for the weird coloration.
PS: maybe you should change your link because it has an address (I’m assuming yours) as the starting point in the directions. Not that any of us would do anything bad with it, I’m just sayin.
Yeah, it looks like some sort of crop to me. I can see that area clearly on the Google Map too.
Can we get an approximate time of year by looking at the scenery and the crops?
This has been answered but I went to look at my house on Google Maps, which used to be a pre-2005 picture … and found that the picture was updated sometime this June!
I can tell because I got my deck added in May, got furniture for the deck at the end of May, and decided to move my dog’s bowl from the patio to the deck in June. Furniture’s there but the dog’s bowl is still on the patio. Lucky for me, my dog has a humongous outdoor bowl, visible from the sky!
