As does the Democratic base. As demonstrated by Biden’s comment about the GOP wanting to put people back in chains with regard to Wall Street. He’s telling the crowd, “This scary thing is going to happen and hurt you. The Democrats will save you.”

People are more motivated by fear than positivity. Politicians figured this out long ago and use it against us.

The difference is that the scary things Dems talk about are far more likely to be, you know, real. E.g., Wall Street ain’t gonna chain us up literally, but it ain’t a strained metaphor, neither.
