By now anybody that cares to know has heard about Jeremy Lin and the Linsanity that surrounds him and the NY Knicks basketball team. I don’t know about his current contract status but assume for the sake of argument that he was originally signed by the Knicks to a standard 10-day contract, got into the starting lineup and then went on his current streak (20 ppg 10 assists per game, etc.) Would Lin be bound by the Knicks in anyway at the expiration of the 10 day contract, or could he auction himself to the highest bidder?
I think he’s on a regular contract FWIW, but WRT 10-day contracts: I believe if he’s not resigned, he becomes a FA, and after 2 10 dayers, the team must sign him for the whole year.
[Yep, I am. I do not believe your story for a second. Not only because the story itself is implausible, but because you’ve clearly demonstrated an inability to reason, maintain a coherent argument, or understand basic statistics and logic. Assuming you actually are a lawyer, and presumably above average intelligence, you likely have no problem being completely intellectually dishonest.

"]A little background about 10-day contracts.]([QUOTE=brickbacon;14781575) I think he would be an unrestricted free agent in the hypothetical.
In real life, Lin was not a free agent and didn’t sign a 10-day contract. The Knicks claimed him off waivers, meaning they picked up the contract he’d signed with Houston. I think it was worth about $300,000 for the season, and it became guaranteed about a week ago. He’ll be a restricted free agent after that.
I think this is what you meant, but just to make sure it’s clear: a team can sign a player to two 10-day contracts in one season. They don’t have to be in a sequence. But after the second contract ends, they either have to sign him for the rest of the year or let him go as a free agent. They’re not required to sign him, but they can’t offer him another 10-day contract.
