And plenty of non-violent offenders. From what I’ve heard over the years for once I have to agree with code_grey; the California prison guards can be fairly described as “leeches”. Not just because of their salaries but because they have a lot of political power that they use to make the prison population and prison system ever larger and more expensive.
So, lots of prison guards camping out? Taxi drivers? Since you are trying to direct attention away from the point, I assume you agree that the protesters should get jobs, and that there are plenty out there? I also assume you voted against 3 strikes, since you care so much about prison spending.
You did that on porpoise.
The only Jobs we had left in America died a few days ago.
I walked by the protestors in Chicago by the CBOT at lunchtime and it wasn’t very impressive. Onlookers nearly outnumbered the protestors. The police looked bemused though it was a very calm scene so I give credit to the protestors for facilitating that. Otherwise it just looked pretty sad and half-assed.
The drums were a nice touch though.
Eh, the “get a job!” response is a knee-jerk reflex for some people when they see protestors. At the puppy mill protests I used to go to on Sundays, people constantly yelled “Get a job!” at us. Why did they think we were out there on Sunday?
The problem with protests is they invariably get hijacked by the soap-dodging shit-stirring window-smashing dog-on-a-string brigade, who then become all that onlookers see.
