Sadly, you probably don’t recognize the irony of this response. :smack:
I agree, the liberals’ reaction to Bush’s re-election was a bit shrill.
Even so it is ironic that I have heard some Republicans claim that they will move abroad to get away from Obama’s ‘socialism’. I think they’ll be shocked when they discover most of the rest of the free world is to the left of any Democrat.

And that’s just the prelude, read on and the fun really begins!
and so much more
“Free speech zones” ring a bell? How about “Permanent Republican majority”, or “we make our own reality”?
Regarding Bush and friends as nutty fascists is far more justifiable than portraying Obama as a socialist, much less an extreme one. Despite the popularity of defending the Republicans by pretending to a false equivalency between the two sides.
Small side question from that article: Was Sandusky a Democrat?
This is pretty good. I wonder if we can monitor this guy’s behavior for the next few months.
Fabulous. But he should add “in any future interviews, find out if your boss, or anyone who works there, also voted for Obama, and tell then you won’t ccept the job unless these people are fired.” Otherwise, what’s the sense in leaving your first job?
I’d be only too pleased if the Romney folks at work would restrict talking to me only about work-related stuff.
Yes!!! Organizing a boycott of Romney-voting businesses is an excellent idea. WTG!!
Yes!! Please aim your camcorders at the lawn for the next few weeks so we can put Romney-voters in jail for “indecent exposure.” With any luck, we can get them branded “sex offenders” for life. Love this one!!
This is a totally brilliant campaign. I would also help pay for any of these right-wing nutjobs to leave the country permanently.
I heard about this Froot Loop on NPR this morning, and figured there would be a thread by the time I got my computer fired up. Once again, SDMB delivers.
My personal favorite bit is this:
Starting early this morning, I am going to un-friend every single individual on Facebook who voted for Obama, or I even suspect may have Democrat leanings. I will do the same in person. All family and friends, even close family and friends, who I know to be Democrats are hereby dead to me. I vow never to speak to them again for the rest of my life, or have any communications with them. They are in short, the enemies of liberty. They deserve nothing less than hatred and utter contempt.
How old is this guy, 12?
“Eric, would you like some cake?”
silence
“We’re going to the shooting range. Do you want to come along?”
silence
“Eric, this is your Mom. Is everything all right?”
silence
This is false equivalency. Voting for Romney is a legitimate reason to shun someone. The election of Obama is hardly the same thing. Even if you don’t like all of his policies, which I don’t, he election is not a disaster for our nation.
I think the biggest difference is that the internet is much denser now than it was in 2004. People were certainly partisan, but there was very little social media and far less noise.
What a jerk.
Nice. You know, people like this always think of somebody out there, living it up on their welfare earnings. They don’t think about the fact that a good portion of what they are supporting are children. Do they want them to starve, too? And then they say, in perfect seriousness, “Why don’t they just stop having less children?” While on the other side they are making it difficult to get birth control (not just condoms, real birth control) and abortions and plan parenthood, not just fall into it.
Unrealistic. However, Newt’s Moon Colony…
I’d like to believe the guy is just a troll, having fun. But American stupidity and hypocrisy have risen to such heights, I’d not be surprised if the guy is serious!
Can you imagine the response from the right-wing if a “liberal,” even joking, had said anything one-tenth as filthy about their precious GWB?
This guy (of whom I’d never heard before, appropriately) appears to be no more than a garden-variety Internet crank, one of millions. Why the hell is he being interviewed by New York Magazine? Couldn’t get the Time Cube guy on short notice?
Holy cow, what an ass! Reading the linked rant just makes you feel sorry for the guy. He’s a very ignorant person and it’s frightening to think he probably has an arsenal of well-oiled guns and a stockpile of ammo. His mind is like a tinderbox and he keeps throwing matches in it. This guy is going to go full postal and hurt somebody.
This is indeed the part that makes me laugh.
At least when the liberals were crying about the election, they were threatening to move to a country that shared their ideals about a social safety net, a country that has universal healthcare, a country that would not send troops to Iraq for stupid reasons.
Now when conservatives/libertarians threaten to move to Canada or Norway (Norway!) or Australia, it just confirms that they know nothing about the rest of the world.
It’s as if a liberal/socialist/pinko voter was so pissed off at Bush’s re-election in 2004 that he said “I wish we could all be more like Pinochet’s Chile. Now there was a man and a country that knew how to get things done!”
Maybe they just think of those countries as “places where butthurt Americans go.” ![]()
I hear Somalia is nice, this time of year. Small government, very religious and the kind of place a guy with lots of guns can go really far.
What is there not to like?
No, the really funny part is that, both sides, just assume, as American’s they, of course, will be allowed to immigrate to any nation on the earth!
Never fails to make me chuckle!
Damn I mean is it really that freakin’ bad I mean The republicans had their 8 years to fuck this country up and now they’re going CRAZY because we’re about to get EVEN, not even like The Democrats held the white house for 40 or 50 years without givin them a turn… They’re talkin al this mess about fixin it when they’re the ones who handed it over this way???
We can’t have much of a civil body politic, if all the political factions are just going to burrow even deeper into their echo-chamber coccoons and not even talk to others any more.
