a liquor called rocky<sp> question?

Ok, I was in Istanbul a few years back, and someone bought us a round of what i want to say was Rocky <not sure of the spelling>. If i remember correctly this was kind of like Ouzo but stronger, with a licorice taste. Put Rocky in a glass, pour water, turns cloudy and there you have it. However, i am now told that this could not be the case since Rocky tastes nothing like Ouzo. So if anyone out there can please give me a proper summation on Rocky, what it is, what its made of, taste, etc… I would appreciate it, I can’t find anything about it anywhere, this could be due to spelling though. I figured the teeming millions would definately be knowledgable on this topic???

Nice work

I’ve seen something called araki in Brazil that sounds/looks similar. It’s imported from somewhere in the middle-east. It is (IMHO)somewhat vile (and this is coming from someone who loves to drink straight cachaça and grappa.)

Sounds like it could be the same thing.

Now that i’ve got the spelling down, i got some more info and yes I was right, but also araki looks like it could be the same thing, that is what it is called in some middle eastern countries. I also didi not enjoy the Raki, but that is because i dipise aniseed. Cachaca, on the other hand is another story, although for me it is prefered in a caipirinhia, but i salute you for drinking it straight.

What a marvelously hideous beverage! I’ve had it in Cania, Crete and can only recall the flavor… somewhere between JP7 and JP-8 depending on how clean the glass is.

If you’re just dying to blow your brain out, a .375 shot of raki will do the trick.

MMMM Jp4 is the choice of my drink, hey if it’s good enough for a B-52 it’s good enough for me HICK!
