Looks like a lot of shows past the 100 episode mark will end this season. It is good that this season provided some new shows to fill the void. Television had not been good at original entertainment of late.
Gone:
That 70s Show- Mercifully!
Malcolm in the Middle- The kid is not cute anymore.
Will and Grace- A few seasons too late.
King of the Hill- It is still as good as ever. Probably Gone:
Scrubs- It passes the 100 episode mark on Tuesday and probably won’t make it on the schedule next year.
Spinoff That Failed:
Joey- Only two seasons old, but it to bed a character who began his run in 1994.
None of these shows match the end of Cosby, Cheers or Seinfeld, but everyone of them gave a few chuckles.
I saw a new episode the other day. It was never the best show in the world, but it was pretty funny and acceptable when nothing else was on. But what I saw didn’t even meet the standard of going through the motions.
The show did almost achieve the MASH-like feat of outlasting its subject. The original setting was in the mid-70s, and eight seasons later, it’s… 1979. And it has been for a couple of years, I think.
I am about 90% sure. Nothing official, but when Joey was pulled off the air for “Four Kings”, I feel certain they are putting it out to pasture.
That is great news. Every article and review begins, “In what is likely the final season…”
Usually that means something! But in the article,
““King of the Hill,” which is not in production but has never been officially canceled, might come back as early as January 2007 if discussions with the series’ producers are successful, Liguori said.”
Good stuff. I just hope the series KNOWS when the last episode is coming so the show can get a fitting sendoff.
My Name Is Earl and the Office are the first that come to mind.
Does anyone know about Stargate SG-1? Seems like SG-1 had been on its last season for two or three seasons now. I still like watching it, and SG: Atlantis.
Watched this when it first came out and thought it was boring, then revisted it on DVD and reruns about 6 months ago and fell in love with it. Had no idea they were still making new episodes, but I’m glad to hear it.
Thought this show was brand new.
Could’ve swore I heard this got cancelled after the second episode.
The Sopranos season is going to be split in two. Something like ten episodes beginning in a little while then about a six month break and then the final episodes.
When NBC returns after the Olympics, they will be shuffling around a lot of their schedule, including Law & Order, Las Vegas, and The Apprentice, which will all be airing on different nights and/or times.
