A Lot of Long running shows end this season

Looks like a lot of shows past the 100 episode mark will end this season. It is good that this season provided some new shows to fill the void. Television had not been good at original entertainment of late.

Gone:

That 70s Show- Mercifully!

Malcolm in the Middle- The kid is not cute anymore.

Will and Grace- A few seasons too late.

King of the Hill- It is still as good as ever.
Probably Gone:

Scrubs- It passes the 100 episode mark on Tuesday and probably won’t make it on the schedule next year.

Spinoff That Failed:

Joey- Only two seasons old, but it to bed a character who began his run in 1994.

None of these shows match the end of Cosby, Cheers or Seinfeld, but everyone of them gave a few chuckles.

Are you 100% sure on “Joey”? I’m surprised seeing as how NBC really doesn’t have much of anything left other than The Office and My Name Is Earl.

That’s called “karma” for inflicting 10 years of “Friends” on the country.

Apparently KOTH, while not in production, is not officially cancelled and may be back in 2007.

NoooOO!!! This is one of the funniest shows on TV!

What are these so called good new shows to fill this void?

I liked Malcolm In The Middle. Still watched it…until my DVR failed me and 5 episodes I had from this season just vanished…doh!

This is supposed to be the last season of The Sopranos. I heard instead of 13 eps, they were going to do 20-21, then end it.

Alias is also ending, and that’s about time. Arrested Development is going too, though I never watched that.

I saw a new episode the other day. It was never the best show in the world, but it was pretty funny and acceptable when nothing else was on. But what I saw didn’t even meet the standard of going through the motions.
The show did almost achieve the MASH-like feat of outlasting its subject. The original setting was in the mid-70s, and eight seasons later, it’s… 1979. And it has been for a couple of years, I think.

I am about 90% sure. Nothing official, but when Joey was pulled off the air for “Four Kings”, I feel certain they are putting it out to pasture.

That is great news. Every article and review begins, “In what is likely the final season…”

Usually that means something! But in the article,

““King of the Hill,” which is not in production but has never been officially canceled, might come back as early as January 2007 if discussions with the series’ producers are successful, Liguori said.”

Good stuff. I just hope the series KNOWS when the last episode is coming so the show can get a fitting sendoff.

My Name Is Earl and the Office are the first that come to mind.

I also like “How I Met Your Mother.”

Does anyone know about Stargate SG-1? Seems like SG-1 had been on its last season for two or three seasons now. I still like watching it, and SG: Atlantis.

Didn’t know it was still on.

Didn’t know it was still on.

Didn’t know it was still on.

Watched this when it first came out and thought it was boring, then revisted it on DVD and reruns about 6 months ago and fell in love with it. Had no idea they were still making new episodes, but I’m glad to hear it.

Thought this show was brand new.

Could’ve swore I heard this got cancelled after the second episode.

I guess I’m really out of touch with TV.

Just in case you hadn’t heard, Ed Sullivan is dead!

How’s Generalisimo Francisco Franco doing?

The Sopranos season is going to be split in two. Something like ten episodes beginning in a little while then about a six month break and then the final episodes.

I’d heard NBC was holding new Joey episodes til after the Olympics?

And they better not take Scrubs off the air! Consarnit!

Still dead last I heard.

Everything will come off the air for NBC during the Olympics.

As of today, you can add The West Wing to the list.

When NBC returns after the Olympics, they will be shuffling around a lot of their schedule, including Law & Order, Las Vegas, and The Apprentice, which will all be airing on different nights and/or times.

I think SG-1 is on for next season (the 10th). I still like watching it, too, but I’d have been satisfied if it had ended with last season.

I dunno…from what I’ve seen about the way “Four Kings” is going, I suspect that they need “Joey”. We’ll see.
