Or better yet, The Complete Keller, which is a combination of the French Laundry and Bouchon.
Be sure you have a sturdy coffee table - this weighs in at over 11 pounds and is nearly 700 pages long. But, it’s apparently one of the finest examples of food porn available. $63 at Amazon, or the two books are individually $31.50.
My house smells of homemade beef veggie soup. MMMMMMMM… So what did I eat for dindin? A grilled ham and cheese sammich and some N.O.T. chips. The soup shall be consumed (well some of it, it’s a big ol 12 quart slow cooker full) with cornbread tomorrow night when ol’ y’all know who is around. Tomorrow is a spend the night night. YAY!!!
Sattidy we’re helpin’ two of our lezbean friends transplant four sago palm trees. Fortunately the trees are still kinda small. They were planted in strange places. Two on either side of the driveway and two on either side of the walkway. Anywho, the drive circles around in front of their house and there’s a big green area in the mididle. Two of the trees will go there and two in the backyard where they will look really nice just off the patio. Since I am the one who suggested they get moved and where they should be moved to, I sorta got myself and by extension, ol’ y’all know who into this. However, we are bein’ rewarded with ribs and fixin’s plus beer so it’s all good.
Ima take a melatonin and go lie upon the bed and stare at the teevee. I might even turn it on. HAH! I crack me up!
Welcome, Atomic Mama! I’m so sorry about your Joy of Cooking. I have two - one that was my Mom’s and one that was my sister’s. They passed away 19 and 20 years ago (respectively) - and I love seeing the notes inside in their handwriting.
We had sauteed chicken livers for dinner. Mmm. I think tomorrow will be a good night for chili - a cold front will have pushed through and it might be a little chilly - hah! Get it?
The pulled pork I made today was very tasty indeed.
There’s plenty leftover for my daughter to eat tonight when she comes home from work. Hell, there’s enough leftover that we’ll all be eating this for dinner tomorrow night too. I put two almost four pound roasts in the slow cooker, so it’s not surprising that I have all this leftover.
We have been WoWless all afternoon and evening. It’s down, dammit. We can’t play. I know, I know, you all think it’s silly (except for Nava), but dammit man! I had auctions to check, I’m less than a bar from leveling my warlock, and my 70 pally had auctions to check, mining to do, and jewels to cut. I’ll just bet you’re all crying a river of tears for me…not.
too much to try to catch up - insomnia has reared its ugly head again and I am going to try to get to sleep at a reasonable hour but, and this won’t mean too much to most of you, I am overjoyed that Gary Carter is the new manager of the Long Island Ducks! Yaaaaay!
g’nite
oh, and
gotti, I’d like to point out that insanely expensive 11lb cookbooks is why Og invented wedding registries… now why didn’t you put it on there, mister? (when I get married, my registry will include lots of cookbooks, a KitchenAid stand mixer, a good set of knives and possibly a few pieces of Le Creuset that I can’t possibly justify buying for myself)
Cervaise, I kind of like the couch where it is. Plus guests might complain if I make them sit on piles of cookbooks when they come over to visit.
Chicken and lentils were consumed with much gusto, and I’ve managed to pack several containers of leftovers to take to work for lunches. I loves me some leftovers! (incidentally, I also snarfed down some leftover chocolate gingerbread for dessert)
And now that that’s done, I’m going to crawl into bed… I hoping I could manage to stay up and greet The Boy, but it’s looking like this will be one of his marathon overtime sessions and my eyes are drooping shut. Poop.
We’re registered at a place that generally doesn’t sell books of any sort. Kitchens are about as far beyond as they get from beds and baths.
However, we already have the big KA mixer, but there are some Henckels knives on the registry, as well as a couple Le Creuset pieces. Like so many gay couples, we’ve mashed together two full kitchens and have long ago sorted out whether to keep the Wusthof or the Henckels, and whose KA mixer is in better shape. Just need to fill in a few holes here and there.
I had The Obvious Retort (IMO) all written up, but decided the thread should **probably **be kept work-safe… :o
Taters – sorry about the bird It’s always sad to lose a pet; but I think it’s one of teh few ways that society still deems acceptable to expose children (and even young adults) to the realities of the world.
**Pie **-- yay on having gas again! (those of you who will take off with this fragment – :p) And for getting to the Water Aerobics.
Boo on the laptop still being broken. I’ve already tols you what I think about the service you’re getting
Don’t remember if I mentioned that yesterday we had our Municipal Elections. I voted for the incumbent mayor (lesser of possible evils) and he got re-elected, so yay. Still need to see how the council will be divided up among the [del]warring[/del] competing parties.
Jerusalem got a secular mayor for the first time in yonks… so another yay for that!
And I’m almost certainly flying to Poland again on business early next Monday morning. **Shelli **-- I’ll try to remember to take pictures. You remember what your end of the deal was, right?
This is the last trainin’ week at work. YAY!!! I’m so sick of it all. We’re bein’ knowledge tested today and tomorrow. Firday we talk about it all. Yet again. The real thing starts on Monday. I can’t wait. Really.
Ok, off to caffienate some more and to forage for brekkies.
logs in Ombras@Moonglade bakes a Delicious Chocolate Cake realizes she can’t send stuff to characters in other servers grabs the Cake through the screen and sends it through the CD drive
Last Saturday in Edinburgh I spent too much money. Among other things, I got two new T-shirts. One says “I am not weird, I’m special.” The other one says “just hand over the chocolate and nobody will be hurt.” Now I’d like a project where I can wear stuff like that any day of the week.
Sounds like good election results, SO. Heard about Jerusalem’s mayor on the radio, too; sounds like progress.
So they’ll be letting you loose on real people, swampy? ::Looks for reason to call AT&T about her [del]cell[/del] mobile phone and demand to speak to swampy.::
All ready for work. It’ll be a long day, I’m afraid…
Belated happies, gt! I think I missed the big day as I’ve been out of touch a bit lately.
I have just been dealing with a student who definitely needs a wallop with a clue by four. I don’t know how many times (and ways) I have to explain that she can’t have what she wants and the answer is still “no”, she’s not getting the message. It’s a good job I’m the patient sort.
Yes, we pay the postal service for a licence to use a freepost address for mail. Yes, I can give you a hundred freepost envelopes for your mailing. No, you cannot re-address them to your home. Which bit of “invalidates the license” are you failing to understand? Honestly, these folks are going to be doctors one day…
At least it’s Wednesday and I have beerverages to look forward to tonight, and the pub we’re going to is having a beer festival. I shall need it.
The Boy got home at 6am. Good thing I didn’t wait up, huh? Mind you, it still feels like I didn’t sleep a wink… I’m not used to sleeping alone any more, I guess, though the kittehs did try to help out by sleeping [del]with[/del] on me.
