A lovely free BMW

Just had to share as I still have trouble getting the smile off my face.

I recently started a new job with a “boutique” bank, and have been enjoying the new job immensely. Apart from anything else after 14 years in customer facing rolls I’m now in Credit - no customers to deal with!

Anyway, the Business Development Manager of the local BMW dealer, has some connections to my Bank, and decided hey, there is probably a market there for some people wanting new BMW’s. (The media has dubbed the Bank I work for as “The Millionaire’s Club” - even thoug hte rank and file employees are nowhere near.)

So an offer was made, if you’re interested, put your name down, and we’ll let you test drive a nice new BMW for a week. So my turn came up yesterday, and I drove home in a bright shiny BMW X5  No strings attached. So until next Monday morning I will appear to be a massive yuppy surveying the peons around me who aren’t driving cars worth more than $110k

I love that car! Are you getting the automatic or the standard drive? The sports model?
Have fun with it, Smurf.

And post pics.

It’s the sports model. It has an auto transmission, but if you were so inclined you can pop it into “Sports Mode” and manually change gears.

Will take some photos, and find somewhere to post them for linkage back here.

There is no “inclination,” only doing.

I always hear the term BMW in Swoozie Kurtz’s voice from Reality Bites.

“BMW? BMW? Didn’t you listen to her speech? She doesn’t want a BMW!”

Have fun!

I just drove my MIL’s X5 on a 20 hour round-trip to see some family. The trip sucked but at least the BMW made it more bareable. I love a good BMW. My wife has a 3-series and I used to have a 3-series as well. They make driving grinnable.

I sometimes think I have the only X5 in existence with a manual transmission. The dealer tried to talk me out of it  and everytime I bring it in for service (98000 miles so far) the maintanence manager still comes out to verify that yes it is a manual. :dubious: (And it didn’t cost nearly 110 big).
