If the Middle Ages are after 1272 (ish) then Wales was not a separate country
Edward I annexed the place - I can’t remember where he held the coronation of the Prince of Wales - but comically it was a very long way away from Wales.
What makes you think English people know the answer?
Scotland was annexed by a Treaty of Union with England in 1707, and Wales was formally united in 1536. Scotland has its own legal system (Welsh law was abolished about four years after its union with England) but I suppose they’d follow the rules of the English constitution.
