They were showing the trailer for the new Christopher Guest movie before Adaptation the other night, and I was caught unawares. I hadn’t heard anything about it. I was laughing all through the trailer, but mostly because I kept remembering Spinal Tap and Best in Show – the trailer itself didn’t strike me as all that funny. Still, can’t be all bad, can it? It’s got everybody!
I’m looking forward to it – Guest and Levy have developed a reperatory company for these films and all of the actors are really on the ball. I’m sure I’ll think the movie is great and I’ll like it even better when I get it on DVD. What I’d really love is to be on the crew for these things – according to Guest they shoot about 60 hours of film over the course of a week and then he slices it to ~90 minutes. Can you imagine how hectic and exciting the filming process would be?
