I guess it comes with the territory of being a Manager. I wish it didn’t. Before I was a Manager I was a Supervisor. And before I was a Supervisor I was an Operator. And when I was an Operator I did my own thinking. I learned. I tried to rely as little as possible on my own superiors.
Now I am an Operator and a Manager. What that means is I know most how to Operate, and I have to Manage. So the people who’s titles are Supervisor or Operator rely on me to tell them how to Supervise and Operate.
Two of them are trainees so they are forgiven. One has been an Op for about 2-3 years. Another has been an Op for about 9 years. And they still ask me how to do simple bloody things!
“Lobsang WHA WHA this has happened WHA WHA what do I do WHA WHA!”
“Lobsang. What does this email mean”
(Well fucking read the words in the email - they are there to tell you what the email means!)
“Lobsang, The Boss is telling me to do this thing… Why is he telling me to do that?”
Hold on. I am not very good at long-distance mind reading. Let me see if I can mind-read across the Atlantic.
