A MUST see at Disney World

My daughter and I played hooky yesterday and went to Disney World for a mother/daughter bonding day. We ended up getting the “hopper” pass because we wanted to hop from park to park.

We had never been to Animal Kingdom before and I must recommend that you go if you’re in town. It is not a zoo.
The two best highlights of the park are:

The safari - where you sit in a jeep for 20 minutes and tour the reserves. It is so cool to see animals live & up close that you had only seen on Animal Planet before.

The second must see is “It’s Tough To Be A Bug” - this is a 3-D live show. It was great. It had little kids screaming bloody murder cause it was so real. One bug comes out and sprays the audience with “stink” and it really does stink! ANother bug sprays you with his poision and you really do get wet. It was a really cute show.

At the end of the show do the bugs run between you and the bench to get out? They do that in Florida. I was hoping it was just “Disney magic”, but it was Florida and some of those bugs get pretty big. And pushy.

Both of those are great, but unfortunately, aside from them and about 1-3 others, there’s not a whole lot to do in AK. That is definitely a half-day park at the moment, but word is they’re in the planning stages for a mountain type ride. I’m looking forward to that.

Either way, “It’s Tough to be a Bug” alone is worth the price of admission.

I second the Bug recommendations. Except, I went there on a park-hopper pass, so I didnt pay “admission” to AK, per se. But if you see nothing else in AK, see this. Best show of it’s type I have ever seen.

The “zoo-ish” aspects actually were better than any other “not-a-zoo” type animal-themed parks I’ve been to, purely for the framing/architecture/landscaping they put it in, especially the Indian-themed walkabout.

But all in all, I wouldnt consider the park worth the price of admission at regular cost. But if you have a several day park hopper pass and have seen all you want at your regular destinations, GO TO AK and see the bug show.
