Australia has successfully made it a lot more difficult for criminals to acquire certain types of guns, and guns in general. Their gun crime rates went down considerably after their gun control efforts, IIRC. It’s a matter of faith to say that gun control never works. Hell, it’s even been (occasionally) effective in the US - fully automatic weapons are actually pretty rare, and difficult to get for criminals. The legal restrictions placed on full auto weapons in the US have generally been effective.
