A new research project from Columbia University

I’m guessing they want lots of input.
From the email to me…

Hi,

A while ago you participated in an on-line project to test the small world hypothesis – the idea that people are connected by only six degrees of separation.
Some of the results from that project have been published in the journal Science. You can download a copy of the results here, http://smallworld.columbia.edu/results.html

Now we have another project that we think you might enjoy. This one tries to understand how people form their musical tastes. If you participate you will have a chance to discover and download cool new music. It’s legal and totally free.
Check it out: http://www.musiclab.columbia.edu/me/enter

After you fill out the forms to take part…you listen to and rate songs from new bands. Then they give you the chance to d/l them for your personal use.

Looks interesting. I’ll check it out tomorrow when I have a high-speed connection.

I wonder how much money it’s going to cost them to figure out that more people like emo and indie rock than thrash metal (or whatever some of that crap was). Couldn’t they just watch the OC?
