A perfected Jew

You’re right! Faster than a spinning dreidel. More powerful than a nagging yenta. Able to leap tall menorahs in a single bound. It’s Super-Jew!

How did she know you were gay?

Well, most Christians that I know think everyone should be a Christian. Unless she’s calling for forcible conversion*, I don’t see that what she’s saying is our of the mainstream, for Christians. It is a proselytizing religion, afterall.

*I don’t see her saying that here, but she has called for the forced conversion of Muslims, IIRC.

Make sure Kal El’s spaceship lands in Israel. And provide a kryptonite knife for the circumcision.

It sure isn’t helping.

Just make sure it’s green kryptonite, not red. Otherwise SuperJew’s little penis will just turn into a dragon or something.

: crosses legs:

Meh.

Judaism is somewhat unusual, if not unique, in the belief that there’s no value at all to gaining converts. In the Jewish view, the ethical Gentile stands as high before God as the Chief Rabbi of Israel.

But most other religious traditions don’t hold this belief; most espouse varying degrees of “We’re the best, and you need to join us.” Even Buddhism, which doesn’t necessarily seek converts, still avers that the cycle of pain and rebirth will continue for all who do not free themselves of attachment – which is done by following their Eight-Fold Path.

I have been willing to criticize Coulter for many of her over-the-top rantings. This is not in that category. If the generic Christian belief is true, then Jews are at risk of not entering heaven by not accepting Christ as their Savior. This is not a new viewpoint, nor is it particularly controversial.

I’ve seen your picture. I think you’re safe.

Hell, I’d like some Christians to be perfected! Damned if I know why they’re expecting Jews to go where they won’t.

I used to hear the expression “completed Jews” for those that had accepted Christ as their savior. Which at least made some weak sort of sense: to whatever extent that Jews are theoretically waiting on a Messiah, they could be said to be ‘completed’ by accepting that their Messiah was already here.

But ‘perfected’?? Christians don’t believe accepting Christ makes them perfect, so WTF is that about?

Would you mind explaining this? I’ve read it over three times and I can’t seem to parse it in any way that doesn’t make you into a flaming asshole.

Confusing her with Ann Coulter, I see.

Doesn’t every Christian believe this?

I don’t mean to sound daft, but if a person calls himself/herself a Christian, doesn’t he believe that a person MUST come to believe in Christ or suffer an eternity in hell? This would mean Jews, Muslims, non-believers, etc?

Instead of bashing Ann Coulter, why not bash all of Christianity (or the other religions for that matter?)

Hi, you must be new here.

Ignore this post. Read the next one, though, it’s awesome…

Charitably, he could be pointing out the trivial fact that Anaamika is not SuperJew, nor even Superman, nor even any man, and thus, being not empenised, so to speak, she is in no danger of having hers turn into a dragon.

But, yeah, I’m not sure. He could just be ridiculously assholish, and have intended to say what it sounds like he’s saying.

Now, that wasn’t very nice, was it? :frowning:

… And, I might say, untrue, to boot! ( to Mika)

Hey, stole my thunder… I came in here originally to say something like that!

Actually, I don’t think they do all believe that, but as I was never much of a Christian, I may not be the best authority for that.

No, quite a few Christians believe that any sufficiently moral person can make it through the Pearly Gates, regardless of their relationship with Christ. And there’s a good number of Christians who don’t believe in the concept of Hell at all.

A lot of Christians believe this, but far from all of them.

The New Testament itself is unclear on the subject. It provides room to believe that one must accept Christ in this lifetime or go to Hell. Or to believe that ‘good’ nonbelievers may be saved at the end of time, even if they don’t accept Christ in this life. Or that all will ultimately be saved.
