A Philosophical Question

Has anyone seen **Anaamika **anywhere around recently? I haven’t talked to her since I got back, and she hasn’t responded to my emails today.

Ana, honey, if you’re out there, I hope you’re ok! Good thoughts being sent your way in case you’re not.

And good thoughts being sent to Taters. Hope your back gets better!

oh well…i didn’t get up to much special over the weekend except for getting lost five times in an hour and somehow managing to fall over but i DID have this conversation on messenger just after i did something special…

Nice to know I’m good for something.

Then what on earth was the point of letting him work there?

I had a friend who nannied for one of the VPs of M&M/Mars, and there was candy EVERYWHERE. She would literally send me home with boxes of the stuff.

Hi Zelie. Post whatever you’d like in here. We don’t care!

How did I miss this? A brand spanking new n00b to tort…er, I mean, a new friend to welcome. Hello, zelie, nice to see you. Make yourself at home.

Hey Zelie! Welcome to the MMP and the Dope. Stick around, we’re fun! Don’t ever worry about what you say in here. See, this is where all the really cool kids hang out. We talk about everything. Well, at least Rue says I talk about everything. Course, notice how quiet he is cause I said I had a change of travel plans and instead of Kentucky I’m goin’ to Cincinnati which is kinda sorta where he is. It’s like he’s hidin’ from me! Anyways, FCM likes chocolate and sometimes has a spare chandelier to exchange for chocolate. I like beer and cookies (and according to Bobbio AKA VunderBob <snerk> cockies <snerk>).

We’re a clique but we let everybody in. Again, according to Rue, even me. If you want some fun, do a search for Uncle Rue Story Guy and read some of his bedtime stories. They’re fun.

Taters owie! I think you need muscle relaxers. They make ya feel real good. Hope the back’s better soon. Or a massage. A professional massage. By a well muscled big burly man with strong hands who… wha? oh yeah! Feel better!

I have to go to a meeting in a little while but I’m sleepy. It’s just not fair.

Just to show ya what a neato jake guy I am, Zelie I went out and found ya some Rue DeDay, Story Guy stories. You should spend some time reading Teemings if ya haven’t already done so. Highly entertaining doper stuff at some of its best!

Welcome Zelie! Make yourself right 'ta home here.

I’m leaving work in about 15 minutes. My back is still screwed up. My boss saw me wincing and limping and asked what what wrong. I told him what happened and I got a :dubious:  look from him. He told me he’d take me down to Occupational Health if I needed to go, but I told him no. I mean, really, it wasn’t as if I fell or something, I bent over in my friggin’ chair and whammo! I’m in agony. I’m taking ibuprofen and when I get home I’ll put a heating pad or something on in hopes that helps me. I feel stupid, is all. Sheesh, what next?

I hope it’s better by tomorrow because I’ve got too much on my plate to miss work. My other issue with pain pills or any medication is that anything codeine based will make me puke…for hours on end. This would not help the ol’ back at all. In about two or three hours I’ll take some Motrin and see if that does anything for me. I know I’m not doing well, I feel kinda prickly-sweaty and shaky. I can’t wait to get home.

Swampy, you crack me up! I’ll just have Mr. Taters massage me, if I can stand for anyone to even touch my back, that is.

aw thanks Swampbear, Scout and er…Wintermule (eep!).

I have been lurking here for ages but first i was a poor student and couldn’t join and then i never remembered. But now i spend most days having a lil peek at MPSIMS when i’m at work. I spect my boss wouldn’t be wild iffen he knew but my desk is against the wall and i can see him coming and i know how to do that windows+M thing so that’s ok :stuck_out_tongue:

i have read a few Rue stories but it will be great to read more! I guess i won’t be having a busy day at work tomorrow…

Oh and just to totally shock y’all - i have never tasted a tootsie roll or any of that other candy you mentioned. But chelsea whoppers and ferrero rocher are the BESTEST in the world so i’m quite happy.

Welcome to our sandbox, zelie - Ignore what swampy said about the chandelier. It belongs to Cartooniverse now.

Just remember that I’m nice, dammit.

Hah! Ha ha ha ha! You think I do any of the work? It’s Quasi-Daughter, not me.

My neck is better. I had the crick for two days but it has disappeared. I am grateful. And I’ve just sent Mr. Lissar out to buy a bottle of wine, which I may drink on my own this evening if he isn’t feeling up to drinking.

i have exciting news! I have better pics of the shirts I made. And here and here’s the one with the cut out and mandarin collar. I need your votes- do I put cap sleeves, elbow sleeves, or no sleeves on it?

Don’t I look adorable? I’m adorable. And vain.

… and the owner of a bodacious set of tatas.

I’m here, finally, having suffered an interruption in cable connection earlier this evening. (Is that even allowed to happen?) Seems to be happening frequently lately and I fear it is something between the utility pole and my house since various cables are wildly overgrown and there is a branch from my neighbor’s tree hanging very close to MY cable. EEEEK. I don’t do well without a connection to civilization.

Anyhoo…welcome, zelie. I hadn’t seen that Teemings page, so thank you for announcing yourself here and causing swampy to post the link. (I’ve bookmarked it for future reading - thanks, swampy.)

So, Mr. Swampington Bear, what exactly are you saying about smalltown Ohio (some of which is actually Kentucky and other related states - pretend you didn’t read that Ellen, OK?)? Of course, I’ve never actually lived in Smalltown, OH, and am originally from the Enemy State just north of here…

In any case, I agree with MagicEyes; you should find yourself a charming Buckeye Necklace, which I still saw people wearing yesterday, even though we lost on Saturday (although we were leading until there were 2 1/2 minutes or so…don’t ask me, I didn’t watch). And the campus area was A MESS. It amazes me the amount of trash that football fans leave behind. YUCKO. Don’t know how people stand to live anywhere near campus. But still, a Buckeye Necklace would be proof that you had been to Ohio. Or something.

Too bad you’re not going to be closer to my neck of the woods… :frowning:

I like the Ashes theory of why the larger Tootsie Rolls taste better than the minis. We frequently have Tootsie Rolls mixed in with other candy in our work candy jar. They’re OK, but dark chocolate is better. (Oh and Magic, did you have to link to that yummy-sounding chocolate site???)

Taters - hope the back is better. If it’s any consolation, one of my professors in grad school had something similar at least a couple of times. And the first time he was an undergrad. (I only know this because the second time he was in his early forties and he had to miss class…) So no, it’s not necessarily an age thing.

Glad to hear VunderWife is doing better, Bobbio.

Lissla, just saw your post and looked through the pics. Very cute shirts. I think I like the shirt sleeveless. If not sleeveless, then I’d go with long sleeves. (I’m not very fond of cap sleeves…)

OK…I have other stuff I’m supposed to be doing. Laundry would be good. And I just picked up Sara Paretsky’s Fire Sale at the library (I had it on reserve and it happened to be there when I went to look for something else tonight - yay!) so I’d like to get some reading time in…

Happy Monday everyone!

GT

I read a scary graphic novel at work today about North Korea. It has gone on my list of Never Vacationing There Places. I can’t remember the title, but it’s a good read. No, there was nothing to do at work today; why do you ask?

If I’m going to go clubbing in that shirt I think no sleeves are the way to go, but I’m stll awaiting votes. I always overheat (no point in dancing if you’re not going to get serious cardio) and sleeveless is comfy. I may edge the armholes in the black and red shot silk to prevent the shirt from pulling out of shape.

Thank you, Bob. I told Mr. Lissar what you said, and he gave a kind of resigned sigh, which implied, “Well, if you’re going to go vainly flaunting yourself on the internet…”

I have had two glasses of wine, and I’m very tipsy. I haven’t had anything to drink really since May. I’m proud of my drunk typing skills.

HeeHee! Lissla is tunk dryping! I like the shirts btw. I don’t know what a cap sleeve is. I know what a cap is. Somehow a sleeve that looks like a cap doesn’t sound right.

gt I got nuttin’ against smalltown Ohio or smalltown anywhere’s else. I grew up in smalltown Jawja myself. The buckeye necklaces are umm… well… yeah. Is there no end to the college tacky stuff? I am reminded of the Dawg lamps once featured in a UGA catalog. The scary part of it is, I just know that somewhere there are diehard UGA alumni with Dawg lamps in their living room. Maybe I’ll find a picture of em to show y’all. Of course that’d mean I’d have to suffer the trauma of seein’ em again but I’m willing just so everybody can see what I’m talkin’ about.

Taters hope your back is better!

Yes, I’ve had an exciting life full of all sorts of adventures and experiences. Oddly, not all of them were candy-centric. You should listen to me when I say things.

Since you blow into town on school nites, not very good my buddy pal, Swampy. But really, it depends on where you’re staying “just east of Cincinnati”. But since I’m a bit north now, it just doesn’t look good.

Too bad you didn’t get sent up this way. I could show you around. Show you all the sights. Of course all the sights are pretty much:

  1. King’s Island
  2. The Cone
    and…
    Nope. That’s it. Wait!
  3. Jungle Jim’s

There’s also my Target and the new Wall-Mart by the highway. But, really, that’s it. But we’d be able to meet up, and wouldn’t that be the best? (Yes. Yes it would be.)

Too bad your down there and I’ll be up here. And it’s a school night.
My life, it is a torment.
And you really should get a Buckeye necklace. Or a Buckeye keychain. Or a Buckeye something. Because having a buckeye with you keeps headaches away. I don’t know how, but that’s what I heard.

Awww shucks Rue. I’m stayin’ at the Holiday Inn Eastgate Mall if that means anything. Oh well, it was all kinda last minute anyways.

For all of you who were on pins and needles to see the infamous dawg lamps, I couldn’t find em. I guess they don’t make em anymore. However, you can browse the many wondrous Dawg accessories to be had. Never too early to start that Christmas shopping!

Today is my last day of wearing the Step 2 no more smokin patch. I gots to buy a pack of Step 3 on my way home tonite. Step 3 is two weeks then I am done…FOREVER!!! WHOOT!! Figures though that the money I’ll be saving not buying the evil weeds will now be diverted to filling the evil gas tank. :frowning:

Welcome zeli.

lissla, I think the shirt would look good either way. Mr. Lisslar is just being an old poot! Be proud of em, sister!

Funny, I am currently reading “War Trash” by Ha Jin which is about a chinese fellow who fought during the Korean War and was captured and spent time in a POW camp. Very interesting.

swampy, I would come across town on a week nite to meet ya. I’m just sayin… Maybe rue is afraid of you breakin him with one a yer famous bear hugs.

Tupub

Tupub??? :smack:

If that’s what it is, I promise I won’t hurt ya Rue. Just ask FCM, Taters, Den Mum and Bumba. I didn’t hurt them. They’re still around and all.
