It is quite possible to be in favor of Israel’s right to maintain its continued existence as a nation, including having defensible borders, without buying into the particular mode in which Ariel Sharon and his government choose to do it.
It is quite compatible to hold the above view and still feel that the Palestinian people, misrepresented by a number of radical leaders, are getting a very raw deal from the Israelis, and that this is inhumane and unjust (and contrary to Torah and the prophets, by the way).
I apologize for not putting this in doggerel, but things have been a little rough around here lately, and my wittiness is taking some time off.
Polycarp, I certainly agree that the Palestinian people are getting a raw deal. We might disagree as to what portion of their misfortune is due to Israel, the UN, the EU, Palestinian leaders, other Arab leaders, their own culture, and historical bad luck.
I respect your POV. What should Sharon and Israel do now, in the face of continued murderous attacks on Israeli civilians?
