A poll about voyeur porn

Please answer the following:

  1. How do you feel about the ethics of it if it’s genuinely voyeur?
  2. Would this change if you knew the identity of the person involved… and they had no idea what was going on?
  3. Do you self-identify as male?
  4. Does anyone else on this board know who you are / could they work it out?
  5. Would any of the above stop you?
  6. How much would you pay for a 24/7 webcam feed?

I have an idea to make a bit of cash on the side, but need to get the opinions of the anonymous internet first.

  1. “Ethics”?
  2. Ohhhh, those ethics. I respect people’s right to privacy, so if they had no idea it was going on, that would be a point against it.
  3. Yes. I have a penis, if that’s what you mean.
  4. Not yet.
  5. Stop me from… ?
  6. Nothing. I’ve never paid for internet porn in my life, why start now?
  1. I have no idea what you mean by this. But if you mean people who don’t know they’re being filmed, well that’s just creepy.

  2. See above.

  3. checks pants No I’m pretty sure I’m not. (But I wouldn’t be that intersted in guys who wants to watch people who don’t know it’s being filmed.)

  4. I have no idea

  5. Yes, if they didn’t know it.

  6. Even I don’t need that much porn.

  1. If it’s not being done with the consent of everyone involved, I want no part of it. Why the hell would I want an unwilling partner?
  2. This would not change my opinion.
  3. Yes.
  4. Yes.
  5. It would not change my opinion.
  6. I wouldn’t pay for a 24/7 webvcam feed. A man has to work, eat and sleep sometime.
  1. Depends on what is actually being presented. If it’s people being recorded unaware in a place where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy, then it is highly unethical. If it’s people being recorded unaware, but have no reasonable expectation of privacy, then it’s no more unethical than the news recording people on the street.

  2. Gernally speaking, “Had no idea what was going on” = lack of informed consent = unethical.

  3. Yes.

  4. Not to my knowledge / Possibly.

  5. Stop me from what?

  6. Very little.

  1. It’s unethical. It’s wrong.
  2. No.
  3. No.
  4. Yes.
  5. Inapplicable.
  6. Zero.

1. How do you feel about the ethics of it if it’s genuinely voyeur?
I think something can be “genuinely” voyeur and still involve consent from all parties. The idea is that they don’t know that I’m watching, not necessarily that they don’t know that anyone is watching. That’s what works for me, anyway.

2. Would this change if you knew the identity of the person involved… and they had no idea what was going on?
I don’t want to watch any porn that involves someone I know. And, as Otto said, “If it’s people being recorded unaware in a place where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy, then it is highly unethical.”

3. Do you self-identify as male?
Nope.

4. Does anyone else on this board know who you are / could they work it out?
Yes, a few folks know my “real life” identity.

5. Would any of the above stop you?
I have to echo Rigamarole and Otto: stop me from what?

6. How much would you pay for a 24/7 webcam feed?
Not a thing. As Rigamarole pointed out, there’s plenty of free stuff out there – why pay for anything? Plus, my enjoyment of voyeurism only extends to sex: I don’t get off on watching people go about their day. So unless the webcam feed shows folks having sex 24/7, it’s not content that I’d watch even for free.

  1. It’s not ethical if it’s done without the consent of the watched, especially if they wouldn’t consent to it if asked.
  2. No. Same as #1.
  3. Nope. You could call me a *voyeuse, * though.
  4. Yes.
  5. From doing what?
  6. Nothing. No one does stuff I would want to watch that much, and I have to eat, sleep, and make a living.
  1. How do you feel about the ethics of it if it’s genuinely voyeur?

Pretty badly.

  1. Would this change if you knew the identity of the person involved… and they had no idea what was going on?

I’d feel even worse.

  1. Do you self-identify as male?

Yes. Others identify me as such, too.

  1. Does anyone else on this board know who you are / could they work it out?

I’ve organized and attended Boston’s most successful Dopefest to date. And anyone with a keen enough interest in me could probably do some searches and find me at work. Exact office and everything.

  1. Would any of the above stop you?

From… ?

  1. How much would you pay for a 24/7 webcam feed?

Nothing. Most people’s lives are really quite boring. Even a complete nympho is going to spend most of her time doing crushingly inane stuff. I look at porn where I can fast forward to the “good parts.”

Since the answer to the first question is “probably illegal and definitely immoral”, I think I’ll just lock this down.
