Just a comment - I’m surprised that there’s a dichotomy here between people looking at #19 (Most Famous Drug) as, either, a potentially abused substance or as a medicine.
Hymnal – The Anglican one (I guess the title I’m looking for is The Anglican Hymn Book)
Baseball Player – Babe Ruth
Football Player(American) – O.J. Simpson (if non-athletic notoriety is included)
Football Player(Soccer) – Edson Arantes do Nascimento, aka Pelé
Hockey Player – Wayne Gretzky
Basketball Player – Michael Jordan
Porn Star – Jenna Jameson
Serial Killer – Jack the Ripper (if only actual names are eligible, Jeffrey Dahmer)
Brand Liquor – Smirnoff
Brand Beer – Guinness
Board Game – Monopoly
Card Game – bridge
Actor or Actress – John Wayne (if actress only, Elizabeth Taylor)
Comedian or Comedienne – Charlie Chaplin (if stand-up comedy, Jerry Seinfeld is the first that comes to mind, but I’m aware that’s a USA-specific answer)
City – Paris
SDMB Poster – Eve is the one that I think the most members of this board would recognize. If you mean “person who’s posted here, identified himself, and is most likely to be known by an average person off the street”, then this guy.
World Leader(Past or Present) – Hitler
Drug – Marijuana
Most Famous Pig – Porky of Warner Brothers cartoons
Candy Bar - mars bars are probably eaten everywhere
Hymnal - this is a wild guess, but kumbayah my lord?
Baseball Player - baseball who? Have some mercy for us furriners too
Football Player(American) - these are those sissies running ariund in helmets and body armour isn’t it? Pfft, any rugby union team would eat them foir breakfast
Football Player(Soccer) - Pele
Hockey Player - Wayne Gretzky
Basketball Player - Shakeil Oneil
Porn Star - Linda Lovelace
Serial Killer - Jack the ripper
Brand Liquor - vodka
Brand Beer - the beer that I find anywhere is Heineken
Board Game - darts
Card Game - whist
Actor or Actress - Peter Sellers
Comedian or Comedienne - Carlie Chaplin
City - Rome
SDMB Poster - me of course. But seriously, I would say its Cecil
World Leader(Past or Present) - Elisabeth I
Drug - cocaine
Most Famous Pig - I only know of one, and that is Babe
Sounds like one of those Flintstones characters whose names were created by “petrifying” celebrity monikers (“Ann-Margrock”, “Stony Curtis”, etc.)! You’re thinking of Magic Johnson.
Joe Shlabotnik is a (fictional) baseball player – he’s Charlie Brown’s favorite in the Peanuts strip.
Right. At least in the US, if you stop 100 people on the street and ask them what the most famous hymnal is, the great majority would stop and wonder why you added an extra syllable, then proceed to answer “Amazing Grace” or “The Old Rugged Cross” or what have you.
