Fellow vets I’m hoping to get some information on the possibilities of employment overseas. Hopefully some of you have had this kind of work experience or are familliar enough to answer some questions. First some background information from me;
Qualifications:
21 successful jumps (8 at night)
Airborne qualified 1989
Ranger qualified 1989
Small arms qualified, everything from 1911A - M-60
TOW experience (LAV and Bradley mounted)
Have had standard covert incursion training
Radio experience, from PRK to teletype.
Somewhat skilled in ditty bop.
Hand-to-hand proffecient (TKD, Judo, Escrima)
Last held rank was E-4 corporal, platoon sub-leader (squad).
Some combat experience (Panama, airfield nighttime)
I admit that I could get into a bit better physical shape, but not beyond just a month or two of tuning up. I’m not a wreck.
Passport is up to date.
What I’m considering is training cadre, nothing hot. I’m not that desperate. Friendly nations only and not interested in independant units unless they are on a permanent or semi-permanent status. I would be amenable to “G” work so long as it meets the above criteria.
So, anyone done or familliar with this kind of work? I had a closed envelope offer when I got out but I was all fired ready to go smoke dope and grown my hair out and at the time all the work was in South and Central America and that just didn’t look too good to me. Now with the job market such as it is and my only two marketable skills being computer and military I find that going back to martial training as a saleable skill might be a good prospect.
The e-mail address is mine if you wish to contact me directly. I will attempt to keep this topic alive for a week or so. Frankly i trust you lot quite a bit more than and “SoF” boards.
Note to moderators: If you are concerned about legal issues let me assure you that this kind of work is protected and legal so long as it is done with approval of the U.S. gov for a friendly nation, it is protected under the same acts that protect bounty hunters.
