Padeye, maybe we can start a club for guys who think Jeanine Garafalo is a hottie. Okay, it might just be you and me but what the hell. Ms. Garafalo once said that she was surprised that any men found her attractive and wanted to know where these guys were, she apparently doesn’t frequent the SDMB nearly enough.
I don’t know about that Llama, just reading the phrase “gorilla’s butt” makes me snort out loud. Reading the phrase “Tracy Ullman” does not. So I have to say that not only a gorilla’s butt more attractive, but funnier as well.
Well, Feynn, looks like you and I are on our own on this one.
It’s interesting, I had NO IDEA that anyone thought Ricci was at all of a looker. Maybe it’s the scary personality she had in “Pecker,” or maybe it’s just the fact that she looks scary as hell, but I’d probably put Ulman above her (which I believe puts me WAY off in left field in this group.)
No, that generation of actresses is definitely dominated by Paquin and Portman in the hottiness department… (We may henceforth call them PACK and PORT)
Are you guys crazy? Every straight man I’ve ever mentioned Jeanane (sp?) to agrees that she’s sexy as hell. Same thing with Christina Ricci, and especially Thora Birch. I think they’re all damn attractive, with no qualifiers like “unconventionally” or “don’t think I’m weird.”
I think Ricci and Ullman are both attractive, but it has nothing to do with looks. I like women who are just a little sassy, with a strong personality. Women who wouldn’t be surprised or shocked if I let my emotional warts show. Ricci and Ullman both give me the impression that that’s how they are.
Tori Amos is a little too weird and self-absorbed for me. She looks okay though.
I agree with those who are turned off by Pam Anderson, Britney Spears, etc. These women are objects, not people. Maybe I’d look at Anderson in Playboy, but I’d never care to meet here.
This must be a generational thing. I find Ullman attractive and think that she’d be a great party guest, dinner companion, friend. Ricci doesn’t do it for me and I’ve never heard nor seen any of others mentioned here with the exception of Pamela Anderson.
Hmmm, Darkheart. Had a thing for Ricci as a little girl with long braids, eh? Remind me to keep you away from my daughter.
I suppose Tracy Ullman isn’t classically “pretty” but I find her attcractive. Her personality, wit and humor are terrific but they aren’t needed to “make up” for anything. I once read an article about her original HBO show that decribed her as looking nothing so much as a raisin cookie. rofl
Hard to find celebreties that are unpretty aside from Moms Mabley in her later years but two women who have astinishingly sexy singing voices but aren’t exactly oil paintings: Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders and Christine Macvie of Fleetwood Mac.
Janeane Garafalo makes my top ten list of attractive women. Not only do I find her aesthetically pleasing, but I believe it would be a trip simply to hang out with her. I would also love to have Ricci or Ullmann at my dinner table for an evening, but I’m not terribly smitten with either one of them beyond that.
I’ve got nothing against Uma other than her not being my type (and don’t ask me to explain that). She did look good in Pulp Fiction and was a perfectly servicable Goddess Venus in The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
Juliette Lewis… Looks too much like a little girl for me. Has she ever been in a movie where she played a strong, mature, well adjusted, non-fucked-up, non-victimized person?
Hell with this cradle robbing. I fell for Shirley Jones the first time I saw Cheyenne Social Club and haven’t recovered yet. She was nice and pretty in The Music Man but I’ll take a “whore with a heart of gold” over that any time. In movies anyway. Julia Roberts was not a convincing ho’. She couldn’t hold a candle to Shirley’s bedroom eyes.
Lighten up a bit, this is MPISM’s. I throw the things that come off my head, mostly for fun… I put a previous post I thought would be good fun (something like picking an alternate web personality) but people took it seriously. I do agree with you about girls with facial expression. Pamela Anerson, a classic hottie, also has a very expressive face.
I agree with you on the kinship, but few men can honestly say that physical attraction does’nt matter. Of course, it is reasonably relative (I saw an MB where someone posted that Julia Roberts was ugly. WTF was he thinking about?). Fewer young, in-their-prime men can say it.
My memories of Ulman came from her TV show. She was a cutie to me, she is sassy and has a nice body. So yes, there is more than looks.
Calling women ugly, butt ugly, exc., is not my style. I may not be attracted to someone, but that doesn’t mean everyone thinks that way.
I saw Pulp Fiction. I’m not saying she’s unattractive, I just don’t think she extraordinary, like some magazine covers seem to indicate is popular opinion. She does have a nice body, though, I’ll give her that.
Same with Juliette Lewis. She just looks like white trash to me. I don’t know what guys find so attractive about her, unless it’s the rebel/bad girl thing.
Juliette Lewis fairly screams white trash, don’t get it at all- unless guys want something raunchy every once in a while…
Uma is a beautiful woman, and I assume at least some of you saw Tori Amos’ MTV Unplugged episode? My God, my hubby and brother now want to come back in the next life as that lucky, lucky piano bench. It even made me squirm a bit, and I thought I was pretty straight.
Am I the only chick who thinks that Michelle Pfieffer has the most beautiful face ever? I just loved her in “Wolf”, where she looked quite feral at the end.
