A question of concrete & colour.......

I have a friend who had a patio poured and dyed green. Supposedly the job was done properly, and the concrete was dyed all the way through. No dice.
She failed to apply sealer to it last year, and now apparently the dye has faded out of the surface. Several people she has contacted have said it cannot be re-dyed.

I happen to think if there is anyway this can be accomplished, some of you among the teeming millions will know a way.

Btw, I already sugested a coloured epoxy coating, readily available to do it yourselfers, but she doesn’t want the uniform opaque colour. She has a terrazzo effect, and wants to keep it.

Any suggestions?

I don’t believe that it can be redyed. If it were done properly it could not be any other color. It may fade a little but the color cannot get out.It is supposed to be thoroughly mixed in the mixer. It sounds like a do it yourself flub up to me.

Was the job done by a contractor? If so he doesn’t want anyone to be bad mouthing his good reputation. talk to him about redoing it.

I used to drive a concrete mixer and I don’t mind telling you that I didn’t like dye jobs. I had to wash out my truck after each dye job. The stuff gets everywhere.

Justwanno, I agree, on both counts. It was a contractor job, who since has gone out of business and left the area.

I too drove mixer trucks for awhile, and I agree with you; it’s nasty stuff, particularly the red; yechhhhh!
