A question regarding a G.W.Bush quote?

I stumbled upon this site and it has two quotes, one from Hitler and one from Bush. The quotes are exact, as you can see. My question is, when and where did Bush use this quote?

Basically I’m trying to figure out if it’s real and not something blown out of proportion/twisted around/changed by a Bush hater. And no, I’m not trying to start a politcal debate in this thread, so please don’t try. ;^)

I don’t think he did. The quote you have attributed to both is to be found on numerous web sites, clearly attributed to Hitler. It is right below a quote from GWB, but the attribution to Bush is in the form of “Bush said in his budget message” within the quote. Here is the Bush quote:

“My administration has focused the nation’s resources on our highest priority - protecting our citizens and our homeland,” Bush said in his budget message. “Working with Congress, we have given our men and women on the front lines in the war on terror the funding they need to defeat the enemy and detect, disrupt and dismantle terrorist plots and operations.”

Then the Hitler quote follows, usually followed by an op/ed piece by Katherine Brengle.

A Google search of the quote took me here, and that led me here. A quick check of the White House news briefings pulled up this:

Early in the year, I will also submit a budget that fits the times. Cool. I searched google as well, but every search just brought me back to Hitler or the Gestapo.

So i guess things were twisted around…but only a bit…
