A question regarding citing state law

Ok, I would like someone to tell me how the following should be spoken. It is in Title 63, Chapter 3, Article 7 of my state code. Here’s what i would like to know how to, pronounce, for lack of a better term:

§ 63-3-309
Thank you in advance for you help. I hope you all are having a lovely night.

“Section 63 3 309”

That first symbol is a symbol for “section”

There are several valid ways of “pronouncing” a citation like that. If you identified the state in question, you might get answers as to what the custom is in that state. But here are several otherwise equally acceptable options:

– Section sixty-three, three, three-oh-nine
– Section 63 dash 3 dash 309
– Title 63, Chapter 3, Section 309
– Section 309 of Title 63, Chapter 3

Thank you for your responses, they are greatly appreciated!

acsenray, the state is Mississippi. Here’s a link to the Code on Michies.com:

http://michie.com/mississippi/lpext.dll/mscode/1314f/132f4/133ad/133c2?f=hitlist&q=traffic-control%20signal&x=Advanced&opt=&skc=80000002000133C3&c=curr&gh=1&2.0#LPHit1

After I made the post, I realized that it is MS Code, Title 63, Chapter 3, Article 7. As for the “309” I’m assuming that would indicate the section. Therefore, the total citation would read:

Mississippi State Code of 1972, Title 63, Chapter 3, Article 7, Section 309

What do ya’ll think?

Once again, thank you so much for your help! I’m proceeding pro se in my trial for running a red light, so I want to make as sure as I can that I’m citing the law correctly.

Sincerely,

AV
