You really should consider your anonymity gone if you’re a MPSIMS-heavy poster with 1000+ posts. After that much jawflapping, most of us have dropped enough bits of personal info that we are probably identifiable.
Busy or not, the mods will catch that.

I’m sure that this has been asked before, but I did look around and I didn’t see it posted: Is there a particular reason that posts can’t be edited by their authors? Wouldn’t this solve this problem?
Because there are a few miscreants here that would take advantage of the feature to be jerks. Someone managed to take advantage of the email notification feature to send emails from the SDMB administration. Anything that can be taken advantage of is.

Just to clarify a bit, we don’t mind people talking about their personal lives, we’re just getting sick of people talking about their personal lives and then changing their minds. Anything you post on this board might as well be skywritten in mile-high letters above New York City. Of course, some folks wouldn’t mind at all seeing their personal lives in the Manhattan air.

Believe me, there’s much more to my life than toothbrushes and hermaphrodite porn… but you don’t hear about it. Why? Because I don’t care about the silly little things I do. I consider them to be superficial aspects of my life that are no bigger a deal than the fact that I have a large forehead or hairy legs. Very, very rarely do I ever post anything substantial about my personal life, because, frankly, it’s stuff that I have a hard time admitting to myself.
I greatly enjoy the large amounts of anonymity that the Boards provide. I’m not saying that I lie (not in the slightest… everything I’ve said about myself on these Boards is %100 true - unless I was posting as a joke, in which case it should be fairly obvious), I’m saying that I take advantage of the fact that all the ugly spots about myself aren’t open to scrutiny. I marvel - and envy - other people who are able to overcome that insecurity.
