There have got to be some people on this board familiar with those spectacular 3d computer music video shorts that become quite popular in the mid 90s:

The animation is pretty crude by today’s standards, but the music was absolutely stunning. Very “new agey” type stuff.
Anyway, I remember this particular one short that I loved but can’t find anywhere. It featured a bunch of instruments being played by “musicians” composed entirely of geometric shapes (cubes, cones, etc.) The bizzare thing about it is that these were the same figures used in the British show “Top of the Pops” (Possibly the intro - I’m not sure.)
It featured a song with lyrics along the lines of:
something something…take it easy its alright
do do do do
something something…Goodbye, take it easy, its alright
do do do do
[robot voice saying “it is too late. We’ve gone too far”]
I believe this short may have been simply called “Too Far” but I’m in no way positive. If anyone has ANY clue as to what I’m talking about you’d make me very very happy!
You’re right–it’s called “Too Far.” You can find it on “Beyond the Mind’s Eye,” a collection of 3d animations from that time period.
More info here.
Thanks for the response - I actually managed to find it myself.
I did some research on Google and happened to come across an album review site of Jan Hammer - the composer who wrote the music for that collection (amongst other things, including the theme song to Miami Vice and Airwolf).
I don’t know what I’d do without the internet.
Another question about a 3D short I’ve been looking for. It’s years old and my memory is lacking, but here’s what I recall. It shows butterflies flying through a forest environment and I think they encountered other creatures (didn’t interact, merely passed by). Anyways, when the short concluded, the camera panned out and it revealed the entire “forest” we had just seen was actually a domed environment on the moon. Very cool. Anyone know what this was?
I’m going to add my own request - this time for a music video.
Few years old now - and it’s based in a city, but all the objects are shaped versions of the word which describes them.
Skyscrapers are the word ‘Skyscraper’ - Police Motorbikes are shaped around the word ‘Police’ etc. etc.
Very striking but I’ve no idea who it’s by…
Any ideas?

TheRealJohnPeat: Is this a computer animation short? If its just a normal music video, try posting a new topic about it. I love these sorts of threads.
Duderdude2: I know the one you mean. I suggest you look through the link I provided in my OP as it has lists and lists of all sorts of computer animation shorts…you can probably find it.
Duderdude: I’m drawing a blank on the title of the short, but I’m about 95% sure that one’s on the same compilation I mentioned earlier.
