And tonight, it’s up against Monday Night Football.
On ESPN, owned by the same parent company.
The 2nd part is nearly over here. So far they’ve done the actual attacks pretty well I have to say.
I won’t go any further as you guys haven’t seen it yet.
So what are they trying to do, rope in the chicks?
I’m in full agreement with anybody who hates this thing, the snippets I’ve seen are horrible, just horrible. I am so embarrassed for Harvey Keitel. He’s come a long way since The Piano.
There’s one item that surprised me, a little. John Miller is very heavily featured in this “film.” Does anybody else have a serious issue with this?
Yeah, I never found out what happened to the towers!
(I say spoil away.)
Yeah, give! Does it show Condi saying “Whoooo could imagine!”? Does it show Shit for Brains ignoring the intelligence advisory “Osama comin’ to get yo mamma!”? How about how he boldly flew to New York in only a few days! Any mention of “My Pet Goat-felcher”?
Well I was more talking about the differences in the first part and the second. There was a lot more politicians involved in the first one. Apart from Condi there was very little showing the Bush Admin making bad calls. It was heavily put on the intelligence community. I’m by no means saying that the intelligence agencies didn’t fuck up.
Was the Clinton ambassador to Yemen really that fucking stupid and up her own arse? I don’t know, but she came across as a real stupid bitch in this.
Clark came out of it pretty good I have to say. The times Bush was in it he was painted as the leader and defiant after the attack. No hint at confusion from his POV at all. Cheney also wasn’t shown in a bad light. He was only shown after the fact dealing with the situation in the White House.
You really got the impression that they were all over this from an intell POV but for various reasons they just didn’t join the dots.
I’ll be interested to see what you guys from both sides of the US political scene think of it. As a piece of TV it was pretty crap but as a historical document it was pretty shabby as well IMO. Because of the issues raised in this thread I didn’t know what to believe and what not too. What was wrong with just going with what they actually know happened and what was said. Just put the words of people into actors mouths and throw a big budget at it.
As I said earlier IMO the BBC dealt with the attacks better in a real docu-drama way. That and other shows have seriously examined the events of 9/11 both before and on the actual day. There hasn’t been a show on any station that I’ve seen (and I’ve watched most of them) that didn’t try to be as accurate as possible. ‘Entertainment’ was no-where on the list of things to achieve and every side was criticised when the facts where there to back it up.
True. Seems like they’re fighting for the same audience.
I’m ready to boycott MNF - except when the Redskins are on.
Hey!!
That is one of my favorites movies of all time!!
I saw it in the movie theatre under too different titles.
Whaddaya talkin’? Any true-blue red blooded American, given a choice between a badly written piece of wing-nut propaganda and a dumb ol’ football game? What are you suggesting?
Now, since I’m already on record as hating freedom, I have no qualms about pounding some suds and cheering on the ViQueens. This year, for sure!
Yeah, almost makes it look like the Disney Cabal forgot to add brainwashing across all their domain.
If they pre-empt the game with that shit, I’ll be pissed (and I don’t give a rat’s ass about MNF).
I was serious. I watched it for the first time last night. It was a damn good movie! They even got the rocket eshaust right, both at liftoff and in space; must of had some hella technical advisors.
BTW, someone’s digitally redone the old Venera probe images. Here and here. Other than the water, the movie’s not so far off.
I’d be more worried that my new, highly publicized movie only beat a show which had been aired for the third time by 13 mil. to 10 mil. Shows you how little the public cared about the ABC show.
I’d pay hard cash to have a breakdown on how many people started out watching the ABC movie, and switched away to something else within 30 mins. I’ll bet quite a few.
Well shucks! I was hoping for something filled with lies and deceit; sort of the flip-side of F 911. Didn’t happen. Even The Billaries couldn’t get upset about this bland presentation from ABC.
I was so looking forward to observing my favorite loony lefties here on the SDMB hop around like they had a shoe catch on fire. No such luck!
Maybe you could get a used copy of the movie version from two weeks ago.
We had to give that up with the arrest of Richard Reid.
It is not just the evil Democrats mad at ABC’s lies. American Airlines is protesting ABC’s somewhat fictional account of the events of 9/11.
So now ABC is switching the blame for 9/11 to American Airlines. Hope AA votes with their pocketbook.
No, man! That won’t get the job done. I don’t want to actually watch it. What I wanted to watch was the Leaping Loonies of Leftitude’s reaction to it. They are so much fun when they get all riled up.
Boy, you got us there, John! We get so excited about such silly, silly stuff! Like lies. And wars. Lies that lead to wars! Goofy, goofy us! Good thing we have calm and sensible people like you, keep us in line.
“Osama bin Laden and other terrorists are still in hiding. Our message to them is clear: No matter how long it takes, America will find you, and we will bring you to justice,” he said.
Where did I claim to be calm and sensible? I get riled up too, just about different things than y’all do.
You gotta’ admit (or maybe you don’t) that some of you need to step back from time to time, take a deep breath, and look around. Then look at some of your own posts. To the casual observer y’all write some funny stuff.
